xx 2016 Year in Review | 25 Nov 16

Now that my 2016 riding season is over, I am summarizing it with one Ride Report instead of posting several.

2016 was an important year for me. I turned 60 and I retired in April. You would think that after retirement I would ride more but that was not the case.  Instead of riding more I actually ran more and finished the year with three races (1 x 5k, 2 x 10k).  Maybe I’ll shoot for a ½ marathon next year. Sue and I also did an 18 day trip to Ireland.

O.K., back to riding.  I rode 11,765 km (7,310 miles) this year. I did two rides that were longer than one day and several day trips in NB, NS and PEI.  I took some pictures on some rides but not on all of them.  Here’s a summary of the rides where I took some pictures:

Had a great 4 days and 1285 mile journey last weekend. The colors had not changed but the weather was amazing and those Arkansas Twisty roads did not disappoint. What a fun ride.

I have a ride report here: http://www.motoadrenaline.net/2016/11/fall-lack-of-colors-ride.html

I have also included a couple of pictures to set the tone....

I've been lazy about taking photos (or a camera), but snapped a few shots on a trip last weekend from San Francisco to Point Mugu.

Friday: 70s and Sunny along the PCH on Friday. Couldn't have been nicer.

CA154 rest area and sun set on the mountains.

We had a great 4 day 1300 mile journey over the weekend of Oct 7-10th. It was a fantastic ride with good friends. As always I have completed a ride report on my blog. It is too long to write out again, so I have included the link. I hope you take a few moments to go and check it out. Here are some pictures to wet the appetite.

Read it here: http://www.motoadrenaline.net/2016/10/29th-annual-texas-gathering-hill.html

xx ...to Iceland [very many and mostly photographs] | 08 Sep 16

Several years back, I wondered what it would take to ride the roads of  Iceland.  The answer was “more time than I had” and I put the notion  aside.  This year, it was time to revisit that question.  If I  need more time; I'll take more time.
This will be a ride of Iceland.  I'd first planned to circle the  island-country mostly along the ring road and figure the rest out, along the  way.  But, after checking for an available room in Seyðisfjørður (where  the Denmark ferry lands) and seeing how limited the choice is, I realized that I'd  prudently need to do more planning for this trip than I've ever done.
I made advance  reservations for every night around the island--flippin...

xx Looking for the perfect curve... | 31 Aug 16

[/Revised, proofread]

This is an account of a day spent in search of the perfect curve, or even better, the perfect curve ridden perfectly. It's like looking for a diamond in a pile of coal. None of which exists, of course, but there's something to be said for trying.

Spoiler alert: although obligatory RR bike pictures (starting, gassing up, standing somewhere) are present, there is no food porn in this RR! Yes, I had lunch, no, I won't show it. I don't know you well enough to do that.   Razz

The plan was to get to PA 125, which is reputed to be a fun and challenging road to travel. A little background... Southeastern PA, where I live, is surrounded to the north and west by portion of the Appalachian...

March 24-28, 2016

Another holiday weekend was upon us, this one being a full four days! And with me being in between jobs, I had no issues with adding an extra day. Luckily, neither did Dan. And as a bonus, my nephew Matt, who is stationed in Germany, was able to get leave as we...

xx John Day Country, Central Oregon | 22 Mar 16

With sunshine on Saturday, I decided last-minute (like literally Saturday morning) to pack up the bike and head east. Didn't get on the road 'til 10am, mainly due to indecision over where I was going to go, last-minute pouring over maps, etc. (And I would've posted looking for company if it wasn't so last-minute).

Anyway, it was a great ride—with some "difficult" moments here and there...and I learned a lot about riding in Central/Eastern Oregon—here were my "lessons:"

1. Get over the mountains the day (or night) before. I spent almost 3hrs getting to Prineville, which was where the ride real...
