Thought I'd introduce myself - lurked here for a good while.

I'm a flatlander from Illinois - ride a BMW K1300S.  Came from a GS Adventure, and a K1200S before that.  Loved the big GS, but just couldn't get that smooth, endless power out of my head, so back on a K-bike.

No long trips on this bike yet, but here are a couple of pics from a recent local ride:

Hey there one and all!  My name is Dan, and I'm a camera-toting, cigar-smoking, guitar-playing guy from Kansas City.  I thought it best to intro myself.  I've been a long-time creeper and decided to pull the trigger and officially join ST.N today.

I've been riding off and on since I was little: mini-bikes, dirt bikes, motorcycles belonging to friends/family.  It wasn't until last year that I decided to take a MSF BRC (the awesome, 3-day option with rollingwheels.biz) and get smart about riding.  I learned on an 84 Honda Sabre, which is still a good time to this day.  I'm a big guy (6'1"/275), so small bikes are simply out of the question.  After taking the BRC, I went crazy and bought a 2001 Suzuki B12N (seen in my gallery), which has been the single most enjoyable purchase of my life.  Having grown up in Western NY where winter spanned two to three seasons, I'm LOVING my daily commutes in KC.  If it's over 35F, I'm on the bike.

I joined ST.N because I'm taking 3mos to prep my bike before I head East to NY then down to DC then back to KC.  The Givi E21's came in today...the newest mod from Naked Commuter to Touring Beast.  The amount of wisdom and shenanigans on this board make it thoroughly enjoyable. I expect good things from my time spent here.

Hola!  I dropped an intro in the Beginner's Garage, but I've been pointed here as the best place to do it.  I'm Dan.  I'm from KC.  I ride motorcycles.  I take pictures for a living.  Here's to keeping it upright.

Welcome Dan.  Bigok

I expect good things from my time spent here.

They'll let you out early for good behavior. Shenanigans do not constitute good behavior.

Welcome to the ST.N family Doug and Dan. You'll find this place is a bit like the "Hotel California". I've been held captive enjoying my stay here since 2002.
My friendly advice, try and make a few planned ST.N events and meet a few of the wackos family. Bike bashing of all models (except Guzzi) is OK with Hardly, BMW and the FJR topping the list. Bigsmile
Oh, and Dan we will expect a few good photos from you...  Bigok

You know, I once ate tacos from a street cart in Morelia, Mexico who was known for substituting his ground "beef" with cat, rat, and dog.  I found this out AFTER I ate said tacos...but I won't lie, they tasted great.  Some extra cheese, some salsa verde...delicious.

Goal achieved.  Before one can take over a forum, one must win over the locals with excessive negative rep first.  Bigsmile

Happily, very very far.

Although, if I had the ability to shape change from 275lb/6'1" dude to a 121/5'4" girl with 34DD's I would be rich.

Greetings!
New to the forum, but not to motorcycle touring. Ny newest bike is a 2009 Kawaskai Versys which I plan to take on a tour this summer the complete length of the Blue Ridge Parkway, starting at Front Royal, VA which is actually Skyline Drive.
My old bike (still have) is a 2003 Sportster 1200 Custom that has carried be to Sturgis and back, plus a whole lot more. So far it's got over 48K on the clock.
I absolutely love motorcycle touring, and I'm happy to join the forum. Thanks for having me.
