Thanks!

My buddy wanted to change all the fluids on his R1150RT today so he had to take it for a ride to warm things up. Well, naturally, friends don't let friends ride alone so I had to go along with him. It was my first opportunity to ride my new bike. All I can say is WOW. That beast motors! And those brakes! Whoa, does it ever stop in a hurry, sure are glad they're ABS! I know I'm going to have fun riding this.

Hope to hook up with some of you!

well I'm assuming that's your RT you're speaking of. I'd like to ride one. I sat on one once and it fit me nice.
It's a big fucker though, but it felt kinda light. Pegs were too high. Need more knee space.  I've heard nice things about the motor. I've never ridden a BMW boxer, I'd love to hop on one. Actually I'd like to hump an R90S around for a weekend or two.

Yup, the 'new to me' '02 BMW R1150RT!!!

Sorry, ... is that a little too much enthusiasm?

You know, some of the bikes I sat on & looked at did seem really big to me, especially coming from a naked '82 Honda CB450SC. Mind you, many of those were sport-adventure bikes like the Triumph Tiger, Suzuki V-Strom & Honda Varadaro. Some of the sport-touring bikes I looked at felt heavy too, like the Kawasaki Concours. But not this one.

I sat on the RT a number of times at bikes shows & had the pleasure of riding my buddy's last year. It just seems to feel / fit right when I sit on it. The PO but the comfort seat on it which even at the lowest level prevents me from completely flat footing it at the lights; but, I'm close enough that I feel comfortable.

As for the motor, my buddy complains that it sounds like a sewing machine. Nothing a decent muffler upgrade can't fix; but, the sound isn't that important to me. It is smooth and more than fast enough for these old bones. As for the weight, I haven't had a chance to play with it in any twisties; but, it certainly feels fine for the riding I have done. Doesn't leave me feeling like it's too heavy.

If we get the chance to meet up at one of the rallies, I have no qualms letting you take it for a boot.

It's yard art. Looks like a copy of the "Tron" cycle. The guy that builds it

Hello, all. I've been lurking around for a few years now, and joined last year or something but haven't done a ton of posting. Anyway, figured I'd introduce myself. Other than that, not much to say. Yup.

I wouldn't consider myself shy, so much as that I like to sit back and read the always entertaining ride reports and such . Also, I've been between bikes for a couple years  Sad (hoping to pick something up in the next couple months  Bigsmile) and haven't had much to say in the wonderful world of riding. With some luck, maybe by the end of the summer I'll have taken some good trips exploring the beautiful UP on two wheels and will have some reports to share.

I didn't notice you were up in da woods...there are rumblings of some trolls making a long weekend to the north - maybe you can join in.

That sounds like it'd be quite enjoyable! And as I'm only a recent transplant to these southern reaches of Canada the UP, I have yet to become morally prohibited from socializing with said trolls. Good deal.
