Hi,
I'm Eric. Long time sport bike rider and a WERA expert racer. I think I've got to a point with riding on the street that sportbikes just arent as fun as they used I be, so I'm considering selling one of my cbr's and getting something more comfortable to ride and doing more touring. I've known about this site since my vfr days a few years ago, so I figure I'd lurk a bit and try and figure out what my next ride will be. Concours or 1200GS is what I'm thinking. Leaning more towards the Concours.
Carry on
Eric

Hi all, From the Sacramento area. Been riding a little over 3 years, have about 23k miles under my belt and pretty much ride daily...rain, shine, cold, heat. I like to do long trips and carve the canyons. Started out on a the GS500F and now ride a bandit 1250FA as my daily commute and weekend get-a-ways for over a year. Love it.

Greetings, just joined. Riding off and on for many years, this riding period is with a 2006 Kawasaki Concours. Rode 6000km last year around Manitoba and Alberta, and into the Rockies. Well not really "into", alongside is more like it!

Hello, Just joined, and looking forward to the new riding season.
Picked up an 07' FJR this past week so the wife could come along. Can't wait to log some miles on this one!

Greetings from the land of Cajuns!! I just joined your group and I'm looking forward to participating. I live near the Louisiana Gulf Coast, and when I'm not working or fishing, I love to ride my FJR1300. As a weekender/tour rider, I put about 12K miles on the bike a year. I've been on some great adventures and am always looking forward to the next one, which happens to start this coming Thursday. Me and a friend with an ST1300 are heading to the Ozarks for 5 days of twisties, camping, and tequilla (pretty much in that order, daily).
Anywho - thank you for having me.

Greetings from the land of Cajuns!!
Being from Lafayette you must have Cajun blood.
I was in Lafayette and Louisiana in 1976 vacationing with a friend. We were most interested in speaking French with the locals and we had a great time. My last name is LeBlanc which as I recall was a common name down there.
What I remember most about Lafayette is that we were listening to the radio and there was a general invitation for people to attend a wedding reception. We went and it was two older individuals getting married and most people there spoke French.
I always said I would go back but it hasn't happened yet.
Welcome to ST.N.

Thanks for the welcomes. Caddydaddy - one day let's meet in the middle and share some road.
Acadian Rider - My wife's geneology leads us to France, so she's not a true Cajun. However, she speaks french fluently and she has taught our children (now 21 and 17) how to speak french as well. My kids throughout grade school participated in the French Immersion program here, whereby all of their studies were taught in french (except 1 English period, of course). As for me - I'm a transplant from New Orleans with Irish and German heritage. I can cuss and swear in French, but that's about it. My wife and kids enjoy talking behind my back in front of my face!
Leblanc is a popular "Cajun" name, but IIRC, it too descends from France. True Cajuns as you know were Acadians that were exiled from Canada for religious persecution. They ended up in the mosquito infested swamps down here to settle where no one else would bother them. Cajuns are famous for taking nothing and making it something (our beloved food mostly comes from very inexpensive ingredients), and for being very independent, yet helpful to their fellow man. To this day, these traits are still quite prevelant with our people and I'm very proud to live among them.
You are most welcome back to Lafayette and I dare say you would not recognize the place. If your travels take you back to my home, please let me know in advance and it will be my pleasure to show you around or at least suggest some things to visit.
Looking forward to being a member of St.N.

Hey. Name's Devin.
23, grad student.
Been riding for about 8 months. Still on my first bike, an 08' Kawasaki Ninja 650R. Have clocked roughly 6,000 miles in that time, <25 of which are on the interstate.
I've spent plenty of time travelling in the past 5 years by car and foot and train, but never had as much fun as I do doing it on two wheels. Which brings me here. Almost all of my miles were done on day trips. I'm really aching for some long distance touring, and I'm finding this site to be a great resource.
And I'm always looking for people to ride with, although judging by some of the more recent posts in this thread it seems that riders from my area are hard to come by.

Yeah, they are in my state, but Monroe, Lafayette, and Belle Chase Are about as far apart as you could make three points and still be in Louisiana without trying too hard.
To those guys: If you're planning anything, let me know
