Welcome Cobra and Turbo.
Cobra, I believe you'll find many here at STN which have been won over the the C-14 (coined The Flying Pig here on STN). There's a good group of guys from PA on Connies.

Hello all. I'm an active member of sportbikes.net and advrider.com. However, I love to tour on my sportbike (well, I love to wish I had time to tour on my sportbike)... So I figured I should sign up here as well!
I'm on my second year of riding with about 18,000 total street miles (and some dirt before I got into street). I started on a Ninja 250 and currently ride an SV650. I don't get to do a lot of long trips due to a busy schedule... But I spend an inordinate amount of time daydreaming and planning various trips, despite not having the time to do them just yet. My longest trip to date was a 1700 mile two day whirlwind tour of Deals Gap. I've also done numerous 500-1000 mile trips around the extended local area.
I had actually signed up a couple of days ago to ask about routes for an Iron Butt SS1000 route through New England today, but due to worn tires and the new ones not getting to my house in time, I had to scrap that idea... Well postpone it for another time.
Welcome and if your still interested in the SS1000 look at the minuteman 1k/ 24 hours of New England.

Good day everyone,
My name is Matt, currently living in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Just picked up a nice low mileage 01 Bandit 1200 S. I have been off the road for far too long and it is nice to be back. Looking forward to getting around BC this summer on my own and doing some 2 up with my lady.
Started riding in the dirt around Reno. Then on the road in Oregon. My lady and I will be moving back to Corvallis, Or. in a year or so and will be found exploring the many great roads the area has to offer.
It was fun getting geared out -
Boots - Icon Reign
Pants - Olympia Ranger 2 (me) & Pro Max (her)
Jackets- Olympia AST 2 in pewter & Triumph Falcon (Summer mesh)
Gloves - Joe Rocket Highside (me) & Alpinestar Stella Tyla (her) & Triumph Falcon (Summer mesh)
Helmets- Bell RS-1 Blue Cataclysm w/Transitions photochromic shield (primary) & HJC CL-16 Matte Black (backup)
Comm. - Sena SMH10

Thanks, after reading what other riders had to say about the bike, I was comfortable getting it. So far it has been a great mount and looking forward to racking up the miles. Need to soften up the rear as the previous owner has the shock set pretty hard, also looking a seat options. So far the Holeshot/Corbin looks like the way to go.

Hello, my name is Andy.
I am 41, have 3 kids and just starting riding in the last two years. (Why didn't someone tell me what I was missing!)
After riding pretty actively last year, this site looks it caters to the kind of riding I like to do. I have other outlets for all out speed so don't need that on my bike, and after riding last year found that I like to commute to work and ride out around the state taking the backroad sites rather than interstates.
I ride my Ninja 500 most days to work and am restoring an 82 Virago 750.

Nice to find a place where people seem to talk about actually riding motorcycles. (and some other weird stuff). Had to leave one group because of a pretty intense discussion about how to trailer a bike. Sick. Please tell me that won't happen here.

Trailering anything other than a track bike will get you banned here.

Hey folks.
Just registered. Found it through some searching as I researched my next bike.
I sold my last bike when I left Canada to Move to Switzerland. The roads around here are way to nice to NOT have a ride, so I am looking to get back into it. And my New Wife (reason I moved
) has expressed an interest in getting her own as well, so it maybe a two-fer.
Learned on an Arctic Cat Minibike, back in the mid to late 70's. Went to Enduros, then my first real road bike was a 440LTD. Since then, have had a few. Did a lot of touring on the 440, was cramped, and hard, but the grin factor was worth it. Last was a V-Star. Good little cruiser for weekend tours. Have not had a ride in about 2 years, and I stare and drool when a bike goes by. I think its time.
The wife is a great passenger, but since she is now interested in sitting up front, there is no way my arse fits a pillion. So its two bikes I guess.
Apologize if I pick your brains to much. I wrench my own for the most part, but here in Cheese country, they are pretty strict about mech details. So I am looking at a few bikes. Will research, test drive and Smile.

Welcome, CanSwiss! I also started touring on a 440LTD (with a milk crate bungeed to the seat).
Lots of Wisconsin folk here so feel free to start a cheese thread.

Just one? You need two. One is a topper. You Red Green tape one side together at the handles to form a hinge and then fill both, clam close it, and bungee it lots. Oh, and Glad hefty bags with drawstrings make great Drybags LOL
Once rode 700 miles with a 2 piece fishing rod strapped to my back with some rope. Got some fish too, but lost the rod on the way back home. Seems I didn't use enough Red Green tape.
(edited to add:)
LOL Just got the Wisconsin reference. I am in the REAL land of Cheese. Swiss Cheese. Land of Chocolate, Cuckoo Clocks, and Cheese. (Please don't beat me Wisconsinites!)
Thanks for the Welcome!

Welcome! My husband is Canadian with relatives in Switzerland
We've gone over to visit a couple of times, but have yet to secure bikes while we're there. We did, however, talk with the fine people in Schlerin on renting a couple of bikes "next time"
I also had a little 440 (454LTD) and you can do much better than that, as you know
I think that based on the roads I've seen there, that you really ought to have an F800GS

Hi.
Mostly a lurker.
I ride a couple of bikes. Older stuff, sporty standards. Stuff like that.
Work on my own stuff. Not big on shops. Like to wear gear.

Welcome to all of the noobs I haven't welcomed since the last time I welcomed noobs!
Please heed Mrs.DD's advice and update your profiles to include your location. Then go check out your respective Region's forum to find information about planned rides, dealer open houses/demo rides, etc. For example, in Region 6, there's a ride planned to Knoebel's next Saturday!
Again...willkolmmen, bienvenue, welcome!
