See you in Byron in June?

Marked it on the calendar. I'll be watching for more details. Sounds like it could be fun.

You can hang with Ed and talk all things FJR. What could be more fun than that?  Crazy

Hello All:

I joined the site in March but have not introduced myself. I live in south central Colorado with great riding nearby. After 30 years of owning nothing but dirt bikes I was persuaded by some BMW riding friends to get a street bike. I bought an '09 FJR and have really enjoyed it.

I really enjoy this site and appreciate all the work that is required to maintain it.

Thanks Again,

Cliver

Interesting that you got an FJR and not a BMW  Headscratch  Welcome to the site - it sounds like you'll be hosting our National Meet when it returns to Colorado  Bigok

Thanks to all for the replies! I considered a BMW, but the cost of a comparable BMW wasn't worth it to me.
Also, I like having a Dealer 30 miles from the house rather than 200 to the nearest BMW dealer.

I would be glad to help organize a National Meet, I have been involved in organzing many off road events over the years, I suppose some of that experience would cross over to a street event!

Thanks Again,

SilverWhiz here!  Came back to riding after taking 25 years off.  I used to ride a 1974 TX650A, but when I decided to ride again, I bought a Suzuki Volusia, but after 2 years of that, I've bought a used Kasasaki Concours.  I always thought that Cruisers looked cool, but I think that a naked or sportbike rides better!  I just feel like I'm along for the ride on the cruiser!  The sport bikes just seem more like what I learned on, feet are in the right places, slight forward lean,........old habits die hard, I guess.
I live in Southern Delaware, USA, and am working on getting my low mileage, but neglected Connie back where it belongs, on the road again!

Hello all. I'm an active member of sportbikes.net and advrider.com. However, I love to tour on my sportbike (well, I love to wish I had time to tour on my sportbike)... So I figured I should sign up here as well!

I'm on my second year of riding with about 18,000 total street miles (and some dirt before I got into street). I started on a Ninja 250 and currently ride an SV650. I don't get to do a lot of long trips due to a busy schedule... But I spend an inordinate amount of time daydreaming and planning various trips, despite not having the time to do them just yet. My longest trip to date was a 1700 mile two day whirlwind tour of Deals Gap. I've also done numerous 500-1000 mile trips around the extended local area.

I had actually signed up a couple of days ago to ask about routes for an Iron Butt SS1000 route through New England today, but due to worn tires and the new ones not getting to my house in time, I had to scrap that idea... Well postpone it for another time.

By the way, how do you view your subscribed threads here? I'm used to forums that use vbulletin and have a 'user cp.' I can't seem to find one here.

Newb in CT.  Been lurking around here for a little while.  It's been almost 25 years since my last ride but recently acquired this low mileage 94 Yami GTS1000.  Flew down to Tennessee from CT and spent a day riding through the Smoky Mountains with the previous owner and a friend before riding back on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive and eventually back to CT.   1250 miles in all.  I picked up some vital information on gear and essentials for the trip right here on STN.  I'd also been visiting the GTS1000.org forum but just a week after I returned, the site seems to have shut down for good.   Sad

Thanks for all the tips and for making it a memorable ride. Looking forward to many miles of smiles.

My name is John. I have been riding for several years and had many bikes.

I registered back in 07 and for some reason never posted.

I just picked up a well equiped 09 Concours with less then 5000 miles. So far I really like it. Good power, not great but quite good for what it is.

I will most likely spend some time here. And I look foward to getting some wisdom from those of you that have been in the sport touring game for a while.

Welcome Cobra and Turbo.

Cobra, I believe you'll find many here at STN which have been won over the the C-14 (coined The Flying Pig here on STN).  There's a good group of guys from PA on Connies.
