Had a wonderful time and met some fine people. Rain off and on all the way home. 850 miles without a hitch.

Any other info you can give about the bike?  Do any of the dash lights go on?  Can you push start it?  Bad connection at the battery or ignition?

pete, as in "nothing hapens" is there power when you turn on the key? if not check the main fuse. it's located on the right side by the battery.

i was told to cary a spare fuse with the bike. it has known to go.

BTW it's a 50 amp fuse.

If it's the main fuse
Yamaha Part Number 5JW-82151-10-00
Napa Part Number 782-1232.

http://www.fjr1300.info/howto/mainfuse.html
Will show you where it is (Just in front of the battery).

Ok... we can temporarily be reached at 605-378-3360 rm 208. Still trying to somehow get the bike outta here...

as to what it's doing or not doing....
turn the key... nothing happens.... no power, no lights, no dash. I believe it's an issue with the ignition switch as GrnArrowe was able (somehow) to jiggle the key yesterday and we made it this far.
The fuses are fine as we checked them. The dealer he spoke to yesterday thought either the battery or the solenoid, but since he was able to jiggle it, I'm thinking ignition switch. Angry3 Angry3

Will try to keep all posted. Thankfully the hotel has a PC with internet in the lobby... also copying this up to the general thread.

Pete/Vicky,

if it is the ignition switch you could pull the connector and jump the wires. the only problem is that the connector is under the tank but is easy to get to when you tilt the tank back. you don't have to take it totally off.
 just trying to help.

Pete & Vicky,

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate problem with the Feejer.   It sounds like your ignition switch wires came loose as you found out.   I read somewhere that the ’06-’07 FJRs are having a  problem with ignition wires being too taught from the factory.

UPDATE****
We (GrnArrowe and I) got the Uhaul truck from Rapid City. Had a bit of an issue at first, but currently we are back in Valentine, NE. Gonna grab some snooze time and hit the road early to try to still get back tomorrow. Then the dealer is getting it. I only hope to see it back in my hands before the riding season is over.  Crazy

If it is the ignition switch gone bad, I've heard they are on backorder due to the very same issues I am having....  SO BEWARE... '06 FJR, around 15,000 miles.... you may have the same issues (maybe).

Thanks to all!!
You're MUCH appreciated!!  Thumbsup

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Hope you two make it back okay.

I'm in Omaha myself and will be looking for a new tire first thing in the morning. My Metz Z6 is done. I'm gonna need a new tire to make it home. My own fault for trying to stretch a few more miles out of it. Bash Johnny Monsoon is helping me out.

Okay, I logged in as me...
We are now home, Blu is in the garage.  Chili

Guess what?  Just for grins, we try the unused key that was here at the house and the bitch turned on and fired up!  Mad2 Radman had suggested to blast the ignition switch with brake cleaner to see if that would clean up the contacts. At the time, it didn't seem to help.

Well... obviously it had to sit and think about it. Still gots to jiggle the key a bit or turn the key 'just so' for it to turn on, so it's still sick and still going to the shop.
They are coming for it on Monday.

Thanks for all the suggestions and well wishes!!

The "Issue" Vicki eludes to is the U-Haul had wooden 1x2 slats to secure the bike to. We had ridden 2 up to Rapid City, 200 miles, on my bike. We got to Rapid City early had lunch, then pick up some heavy duty tie downs for both bikes and then picked up the truck, this is when I see the wooden slats. We then load my bike into the truck and secure it as best we can, as we leave I clipped the curb, when we stopped for gas we open up the back and my bike is lying on it's left side. The wooden slats had broke when I bounced over the curb. Had a minor gas spill in the back as well. We got it back upright, then turned it sideways up against the front wall. No damage to the plastic but the left hand mirror bracket may be effed up and some minor scratches on the left side engine cover. No big deal other than the mirror. Well I guess I'll get the FZ1 mirrors now so I can see whats behind me instead of my elbows.

As Vicki stated we spent 15.5 hours DRIVING home in a rented truck. Oh, and it never rained on us on the way home but we did have A/C. BAH!!!

I'll post pics later. Thanks to all for your help.

At least we had fun up until Thursday afternoon. Great to meet everyone and hope to see you all again soon.

I'm home as well, 10,000-some miles and 35 days after departure. It was great to see some new faces, as well as the regulars, at this year's National. Can't believe it's my fourth!  Thumbsup

Glad you Illinoians made it home despite the problems. Hopefully it's an easy fix with the ignition.

Now I actually have to put together a ride report.......  Crazy

Hi All
Marita and I are back safe and sound.  We pulled in last nite along with Basket and Shannon and Raisedbywolves.  Gary stayed in Fort Frances to do some business.
We blasted from Custer to Fargo ND on Friday, with a detour to see Devil's Tower.  The trip made our butts sore, but there was a hot tub in the hotel!
Had a great trip, all in all.  Did manage to tip my Strom over in the middle of the road in Fort Frances, whilst attempting to pull a u-turn.  Had to happen sometime I guess.  No damage, other than to a fragile ego!
It was nice to see everyone.  Too bad it was so short, didn't get to meet a few.
I guess it will have to wait until Eureka Springs!

OMFG!  The massage therapist in town was by far one of the best I've ever been to.  She was extremely knowledgeable AND affordable ($47 for just an hour!!!) She did miracles to my entire left arm, neck and back.  I don't think I would have made it home at all without having gone to her.  Thumbsup

I just rolled in as well, after a slight (intended) detour on the way home with Req. Lots of great sights and road, both there and back.

And as always, it was great to see/meet you guys!  Bigok

We all got back home, safe and sound, on Saturday afternoon.  Totalled 3209 miles for the week.  This was my girlfriend's first motorcycle trip and she loved it.  She said it was the best vacation she's ever had!  I just want to say that (even though she probably won't see this) I am so proud of her for taking a big chance and really stepping out of her comfort zone to go on this trip.  I'm ecstatic that she had such a good time.  She's excited about the prospect of another m/c trip... where ever that may be.  What a woman!   Inlove

Rolled in last night and forgot to post.  Tons of miles, the Strom held up like a champ and won adoration from all who saw it.  Seriously.  The border guard crossing back into Canada held up a bunch of cars behind me while we talked about Stroms, since he's trying to decide between the 650 and the 1000 for his next bike.   Bigsmile

A gig and a half of pictures to edit tonight...

Anyway, great to meet you all, and as always a pleasure to ride in the dirt/mud with Dante.  And on the roads too, I guess.  Bigok

Finally made it home today at 3pm. The wife and I had a great time seeing some old friends and making some new ones.

Yeah, we were wondering were you two went after you caught us on 212 in MT. Glad you made it back okay.

hehe - we were parked at that "Lousy Food" saloon on the corner when I saw you two go by. I waved madly but no one looked  Sad  So I hopped on the GS, tore across the grassy median to the road and (eventually) caught up to you. It was a faster pace than what we had been running so I let you two go. How was Starving Donkey?  Razz

We went to Canada, of course  Cool  I showed Req some of BC's finest roads, both dirt and paved Banana

OK,  after leaving the U.S. contingent in Great Falls, we pointed it North for home.   Got there 11 hours and 5 curves later.  (1 hour wait for customs to get their act together.... grrrrr  Bash)  It seemed the weather dropped 10 deg. right at the border.  Headscratch    Made it home.   Best of all,  no injuries,  none, nada, nothing,  no eyes, ears,  or legs hurt.

Great to meet you all again.

Good job! And thanks for the sherrif's badge. The border guard thought it was funny...

I'm home as well, 10,000-some miles and 35 days after departure.

I wish I could do that. A little problem like lack of work and coinage prevents me.

Home as well, via, Minneapolis MN, Thunder Bay Canada, International Falls MN, Cedar Rapids and Ames Ia before I found Papillion NE again.  3625 miles on the OD, for a total of over 4500 miles on the New Sprint. Not a bad first month as I just had picked it up on the 19th of May.

Back to work on Monday, after my months docompression time.  Yech...

Mr. & Mrs. BMW-K just rolled into home - just a hair shy of 6,000 miles in two weeks.

Home safe and sound!

I checked in T Bay.  8 of us left, and 8 came home.  That's all I can get to!
Todd, get a bike, then come and count with us!
