Why do BMW owners feel persecuted by FJR owners?
Are you a member or have you ever been a member of either community? I would submit that to gain any benefit from this thread the participants "should" have been from either community.  Sure, you can have an opinion.  I can have an opinion on smoking Cuban cigars too.  Never smoked one, but I can have an opinion.  What purpose does that opinion serve?  Quite frankly your responses are very similar to what a troll would post.  Since most of the responders understand that this thread was pretty much done in jest, those responses probably don't meet troll criteria.   So why am I actually responding to your last post?   Mostly because I'm bored and it makes the clock go faster, despite quantum mechanics or relativity.  Lol

Criminy, I learned this back in the 6th grade:

1) Decide on the bike you want.

2) Buy it.

3) Ride it.

What freakin' difference does it make what the other guys ride? It is their personal choice just as mine is.

Maybe because it's more like the following for some people....

1) Decide on the bike you want.

2) Buy the bike you can actually afford.

3) Ride it but secretly long for the one that was outside of your budget.

 Lol

That's the difference between you and I.  You consider yourself within the exclusive club of FJR riders.  And you fancy the imaginary privileges that come with that club membership.  You fathom RT riders do the same.  Man... you sound like a HOG.  Lol  Frankly... I don't want to be in your self-imposed "community".  I consider myself a motorcyclist, period.  I don't cramp my identity in with whatever bike I happen to own or have owned.  Who I am doesn't change every time I hop on a different bike.  Crap... if that's the case, I'd be seeing a shrink, cause I got 5 bikes in the garage.  Smile

Once again, you post further proves my point about some FJR riders.  Most sport touring riders I know - including FJR owners - don't think that way.  It's unfortunate that you do.

As a bike whore, I've owned too many bikes to feel part of any specific owner's group.  In fact, while I do join different owners group forums because of the wealth of information, I am often put off on the whole superior group think of those about the subject bike.

My last three purchases have been BMW.  Why?  They have worked for me and fit all my needs better than anything else at the moment.

Other than Harley riders, I've never felt persecuted from any other bike owner.  And, while I'm on that topic, I find it funny that I've received "hey, nice bike" comments from the HOG members on the BMW Rs and Ural.  They appear to be in the acceptable circle of bikes for some reason.

All other bikes I've owned have received some sort of derogatory comments from some HOGs such as, "how's the crotch rocket comfortable anyhow (Super Duke and K1200S)" and "you be careful pulling out onto the highway on that thing, is it even quick enough to be on the highway? (KTM Adventure)"    Rolleyes

Most BMW riders have that stiff, straight up riding stance. They never lean their upper body forward, backward, and God forbids, left of right. Why ?

At Moto Guzzi school, we were taught to play hard to get.

This is why you always see other riders flock around Guzzisti at social gatherings.

You do know that the fee is for the BMWMOA right? It's not just to post on the forum. The Anonymous book alone is worth the money if you travel. The monthly magazine is nice too.

Emphasis on most, right?  Lol

At breakfast the other day, a few riders (one Goldwing and two Harley) asked me if I was attending the BMW rally up in Boone, NC this weekend.  I told them I don't like large rallies no matter the make other than vintage shows.

They then shared with me their biggest beef for BMW riders.  First, they claim BMW riders don't wave back and next they hate being preached to for not wearing enough gear.  Really, BMW riders don't wave at other brands and they constantly preach the ATGATT gospel unprovoked?  I somehow doubt that.

+1  It's a bargain, really.  Though, I've failed to renew the last few years, you do get quite a bit for the $$$$.  While there are other BMW owners forums out there, this one is the main forum.
