Update on our new pet...

He had a clean break on the bottom of his leg and he's missing a few teeth.  The vet believes the little guy had some sort of serious trauma.

He's flea free, but does have ear mites.  He also has a little cold and his little eye buggers have been cleaned.

We're taking him back tomorrow to get a splint and cast.

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. He'll be a good cat.

Shame about the leg, but he'll heal up fine, and a little medication will clear up those eyes
and the snotter. He'll be a handsome devil when he gets cleaned up and taken care of. You can tell
he's happy to be somewhere safe.

I had an extraordinarily sad and disturbing moment tonight to top my wonderful weekend off.

Went down to my local hangout tonight for a few brews and a bite to eat. I usually walk out the girl who works the bar tonight for on-request security purposes after closing if I'm there and especially if somebody's there creeping her out which happens, because she's a very cute girl.
She's a friend and we take care of each other.

On the way out I hear her and her girlfriend Jess freaking out. Right in front of Jess's car there is a large, very dead mature male pedigree Seal Point Siamese cat that was hit tonight on the road, crawled into the parking lot and died there on the spot. Cat had a collar on with a little bell. I have the collar and bell in the pocket of my Darien jacket.

Some asshole's pet, and a beautiful example of the breed. It really sucked. Asshole Pet Owners Please note. Keep your cats indoors. They are perfectly happy there and will live longer. That wasn't directed at any STNR's for the record. This shit just pisses me off to no end. If you're gonna take an animal in, be fucking responsible for that life.

This was really sad because this cat was gorgeous. A perfect cream/seal point Siamese. What a waste. It wasn't a local one-eyed rat tomcat. This fucker would cost you 250-500 bucks for a similar kitten.

So I cut the collar off the dead cat with my Benchmade Mini-Griptillion, picked it up from the parking lot and chucked the poor thing in the woods across the street. It stunk from shitting itself and the smell of Death surrounded the poor creatures corpse to the point I puked a bit while holding this poor dead stiff animal in my hands.

 Sad

RIP gorgeous cat. Very sad.

2nd time I've had to do that. The first time I had to do that was with a stray that a shithead neighbor poisoned with antifreeze and the poor thing crawled under the porch and died. And that one had a litter of kittens she was nursing, I was trying to rescue kittens and they were dying as fast as we could get them attention at the vet. The mother cat passed the poison to the kittens via the milk. It was heartbreaking to say the least. I stood at the cold stainless steel table at the vet watching the last one struggling for life and it was a no-go a couple hours later.

anyway......

+1.

Yesterday I investigated a minor accident.  A guy was driving his 2010 Camry down the road when a loose Pit Bull ran into the side of it.  It DENTED his passenger side rear door.  He stopped and followed the bleeding dog to its house.  He exchanged info with the owner and called 911 to report it.

5 minutes later the owner called and claimed some guy hit and ran her dog without stopping.  What a c*nt.  She lets her dog roam free, it screws up a car, then she falsely reports a crime.

I think the dog won't live.  It was stunned and bleeding from the mouth.  Shock usually does them in.  KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE IN YOUR YARD>

I heard the double-thump when a squirrel zagged instead of zigging last week.

Score: Motorcycles 2, squirrels 0.

I'm don't know much about cats. But my neighbor's is outside from dawn till sunset and he's been going strong for years. Heck of a hunter (he plays with his food/prey in my back yard), and he's succeeding in a neighborhood shared with foxes and coyotes.

We had to start infusion of our black cat. Rita's been anxious over it for a week, watching YouTube videos and getting close. To the point that Ariel is really getting weirded out by all the attention. I volunteered a couple of times but she wouldn't have it. Ariel's her cat and she feels that she needs to do the deed.

Last night she finally caved and let me do it.

She wanted me to switch sides (Ariel was sitting on my left side) so I could use my right hand which is funny since I'm somewhat ambidextrous and my left hand is better for this Smile  Anyway, after calming him down again, I pulled up on the scruff, pinched it a couple of times, and *poke* *mrow!*

But he was good and the flow was excellent. We were done in about a minute or less and he *mrow!*ed again when I pulled the needle out (it was frigging big!).

We have to do this twice a week. She's going to be a wreck and he's not going to be too pleased either.

Carl -

I had to do this with my Rocky (a tabby-Siamese mix) - I would put him in the bathroom sink and hang the IV bag from the medicine cabinet mirror (I would use the bag multiple times but change needles). Never had a problem with infection or anything like that. He quickly learned to just hunker down and wait it out as I would give him treats afterwards. They really are fairly insensitive in their scruff. He also seemed to realize that it was for his own good.

Good luck!
