Well back to this story.

http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php/topic,11281.msg1588843.html#msg1588843

I knew it would be an ongoing thing. We're trying to find a home for this little grey tiger female, approximately 1 year old or so.
Shes' still hanging around and everybody is feeding her. Before the holidays I went outside looking for her, nowhere to be found anywhere, figured she split or
became lunch for a hungry coyote.

Well first day back at work today and one of the office guys calls me up and says, "timmy, you want another cat"? I said let me guess, a little grey tiger, right?
Apparently she was going around the side of the building and poking her head in peoples office windows and crying. It's quite cold out today and was bitter late last night,
tonight is going to be pretty epic cold going down to single digits.

So, I went outside, no sign of cat. I called out "kittykitttykitttykitty'" and here she comes from the far side of the building, across the lawn running towards me, stopping to size me up, and then she figured out I wasn't going to hurt her or she remembered me, either/or, and she came right up to me. Scooped her up and brought her in the building + got her all settled down with a box and a pillow in it for a warm bed,
cat food, and fresh water.

This poor cat is definitely somebody's abandoned pet. She's so friendly, she was purring and drooling all over me and the paws and claws were pumping my arm as I held her and petted her.
Anyway she was a bit scared when I first put her in the room to go find her a box and some food bowls, she found a hiding spot and I had to coax her out.

Got her settled in a bit, and kept putting her in the box with the pillow, and she seemed to get used to it.

i let her go about 20 minutes, went in to check on her, and she's still in the box, warm as toast. It is just entirely TOO COLD for any beast to be out tonight, I'm sure she'd survive the night, but
it's not going to be pleasant.

This cat is just so happy to be shown some love and attention, I think she'll be much better off locked in this room in the plant rather than outside tonight.

Everybody in the company is asking around and trying to find her a home.

Can you have a "plant cat"?  Some buildings have guard dogs...  It would keep the plant free of mice and related rodents, plus give the workers something to fawn over...

Funny you mentioned that, because people here are talking about it. And I have a 1/4 million dollar piece of very sensitive equipment in my department, last time the technician was in
to service it he found mouse droppings and urine spots in the guts of the machine. He told us that he's seen machines with chewed up wiring harnesses inside and that gets VERY expensive to fix.

I know my boss + the company owner wouldn't go for it, but the general opinions of others is to keep her around. Home problem for the cat + internal mouse issues solved cheaply and most effectively.

I'd be willing to take care of the litterbox and food + water. It ain't gonna happen though. We gotta find her a home or it's off to the SPCA. I hate like hell to do that, but even if she would be put down it would be better than her freezing or starving to death or being eaten by a coyote. She's got one more day reprieve from the extreme cold and then we've got to make a collective decision here.

We already called one no-kill shelter and they're full to capacity with both cats and dogs.  Sad

And here is the little beastie I'm talking about. She's such a sweetheart. Cat was purring up a storm when my co-worker shot this with her cell phone.
Actually looks like a carbon copy of Stefrrr's cat with the bow on it's head.

Good news.
We probably got a home.

Bad news.
I think shes' preggo. Not think, I am about 99% sure from the feel of her belly.

Good news.
ASPCA has a mobile spay/neuter/inoculation clinic for low cost and I have a commitment from twoEDIT: 5 other people including myself to split the cost
of this cat's care.

Bad news.
The kittens will have to be aborted. However this is a better option than bringing another unwanted litter of kittens on the face of the planet.
Being able to save this angel definitely lightens that burden.

Good news.
This cat will wind up in a loving permanent home with a co-worker who's agreed to take her, but he can't deal with a litter of kittens.

I'm doing the legwork with the phone calls and making the contacts and appointments.

I don't go looking for this kind of situation because it's generally heartbreaking, and many times you just have to walk away, or surrender the cat to the ASPCA which is sketchy at best for the future of the animal.

But I do what I can when a situation crosses my path.

Good news.
She's going home with one of the guys in the office tomorrow. Then it's off to the clinic for the evil, but necessary surgery/abort, and FHIV/FLK testing and shots.

Bad news.
Being that it's just after the New Year, the fire inspectors came in to check our fire alarms. My boss walked into the room where our little guest is staying.

Not a word has been said, yet.

I do have a lot of support on this within the plant, but there is a possibility that I may be facing some music on this one.

Ce la vie.

You guys are not going to believe this but my boss walked into that room this morning with the fire inspector, kitteh sat quiet and tight,
and despite the presence of kitteh herself, a litterbox, food bowls, a box with a pillow in it, and another one I cut with a hole it it just for fun,
nobody's none the wiser. Nothing short of a miracle. I had prepared myself for a good corporate ass-reaming today. I just had a routine meeting with my boss
and did a couple things in our customer service lounge that he wanted done. Not a word.  EEK!

This is an amazing cat. When I put her in the room, I figured she'd be at the door yowling and scratching, but no. Not a sound, not a peep in two days.
This will be her third night as an unauthorized plant guest.

Everytime I go in to check on her, she's in the pillow box, resting quietly, and peeking over the top of her bed-box.

Anyway, it's confirmed.

Kitty is going home with my co-worker tomorrow and has vet appointments lined up to get the needed care.  Thumbsup
