Hair cuts....do yours reflect riding/helmet wearing?

#2 wife does it for me .
I used to have a flat top but after I had Chemo my hair came back straight down not even gel would hold it up .

I'm thinking about going #1 clipper this week end ??

Just say no to flat tops.

My boyfriend doesn't use any clipper guards.  I would recommend it

And if you use one of those nasty walmart hair cut kits, look into a pro clipper with replaceable blades.  It makes a HUGE difference, and you can get the blades sharpened for $10 I think at most beauty supply places.  I need to buy one for the boyfriend and reform him.

And I am serious about the pro clippers.  They are essentially the same as the pro clippers groomers use, and I can guarantee you that what's left on your head is NOTHING compared to how much they cut off of a horse, and the blades are still sharp and ready to go.

They got variable speed, length, and all that shiznit too!

I either get a High & Tight or a #4 on top and #2 on the sides (when they don't know what a high and tight is). And then I just don't get my hair cut during the Texas winter (Jan. & first 1/2 of Feb.).

Yup, I would agree that the pro clippers are the best.  Getting the blades sharpened is enough of an incentive.  Much cheaper than replacing the clipper.  Nothing better for man-scaping

Yup, andis and oster were the names to look for a few years ago when I worked for the vet.

We'd put a #40 blade on it to prep for surgery, several animals a day, abuse the crap out of it (blades last much longer if you wash first, dirt dulls them quick) and the clipper lasted for years and years.  Had the blade sharpened/replaced maybe once a month.

I just have to figure out what the human equivalent is, because the boyfriend might be slightly offended if I bought him one from KV vet supply.

Only I'm too lazy to keep on going back for highlights, so I'd have to pass on those.

Okay, looks like the clipper I abused was the legendary Oster 76.  $110 shipped off of ebay.

Oster also makes the fast feed for $55 shipped. Smaller version of the 76.

I used to have a ponytail.  One day while changing oil under the truck, it got caught in bracing.  My hands were oily and I was stuck for awhile.  It pissed me off so much that when I got free, I went to the barn and yelled that I wanted the f'n thing cut off.  All of it cut off.  

My wife walked into the tackroom, came out with the horse clippers, flipped over a water bucket and motioned me to sit down.  Less than 2 minutes later it was ALL gone--no time for regrets!

Saw a guy this past weekend on a XX; his hair was longer than mine - aka waaay past the shoulder blades. Just 2 hair bands too. Go figure - I braid mine when riding or under a car so it doesn't get all messed up or caught on stuff.
I find it helps to use goo - prevents helmet head, keeps it looking neat/corporate(insofar as a longhair can be).
If you go the goo route, stick with 90 Wt or ChainWax.
PJ1 Blue works, but it's kinda sticky.

I pay too much for my haircut, but I always enjoy it.

I used to go to whatever cheap barber was nearby.  Our former babysitter - whom I have known since she was about 14 is now in her early 20's.  She went to cosmetology school.  I started going to her when she started at a salon.

She's a sweet girl and always cuts mine and my son's hair.  She'll even come to my house to cut it if I ask.  

As to cutting for the motorcycle.  Not really though I have always had it cut short.  I probably get it cut more often than most but I have really thick hair that grows fast.

I trim my beard myself.

I've had short and long hair but that "transitional" growing it out phase sucks. More like a dirtball phase.
I think I'm gonna do long hair in the winter (for warmth) and short in the summer. Tis nice and cool...

 

Ok, I've been stewing over this for the past couple of days...  sorry for the regurgitation, but...

WHAT??  You didn't know Ewan was in Trainspotting???   He was the central character, and all the story was him doing first person narrative telling the story.   It was his big critical breakout blockbuster that put him in the spotlight!  

Go watch it.  Now!  (warning - its edgy and deals with heroin addiction!)

Its really a pretty darned good / funny movie as well.  This acting beats his work in the Star Wars films.

I have to agree with you there... and way too often. I have my hair dimensionally dyed in red and my normal hair color. If I wanted to keep the roots from showing it would be ever 4-6 weeks or something like that. Either way I just got lazy and am growing out my hair. It might look interesting in a few months when half of my hair is red and the other half is black.

I think with short highlights (if I remember correctly), my roommate went in very month or so. It got kinda expensive and time consuming.

I wear an OR balclava under my helmet. It semi-prevents helmet hair.

I say "semi" because my hair looks squashed by a helmet all the time, and had the thickness of rabbit fur.
