A bit late to the party, but I'm here.  Picked this up in June after trading my Tiger 1050 for it.  Now I'm missing my tourer and gonna sell the Speedy (as much as I love it) and look towards a Sprint ST/GT.

You can Tour with the Speedy... pick up a Large Tail Bag & a Tank Bag & you are good to go...

These are from an 3 Day 1800 mile trip I took...

It's not that I want to, believe me.  I love it.  Hell, it's my second Speed Triple (had an absolutely beautiful '04 Tornado before).  It's just that I can't afford two bikes at the same time right now.  My employer believes in income redistribution since February.

Yeah, I did that back in July on a 4 day trip from Atlanta to Wytheville, VA without touching interstate.  Triumph tank bag and Ventura Pack rack.  1200 or so miles.  I have arm issues (can't straighten either - both elbows are fcuked).

My friends know me as a moto slut.  I've kept four bikes in my lifetime for multiple years: a V65 Magna, ST1100, the first Speed Triple, and the Tiger 1050, all of which for 4 or more years. Everything else has been wham, bam, thank you ma'ams.

Speaking of road trip pics, here's one I just found from the VA trip in July.  I forget which stop on the BRP, but I'd pulled off to wait for the two Yamaha cruisers I was headed up there with.  They were just a wee bit behind me.  Lol

On Saturday (1/4) I took delivery of my new 2013 Triumph Trophy SE in silver. Since then I've put 514 miles on it and in the morning will take it into the dealer for First Service. I love it! Bigsmile  The bike handles very well, is nimble and comfortable, and seems to get better fuel economy than my previous bike, a 2010 Kawasaki Concours.

However, when I compared the speedometer to my Garmin GPS, I found that it consistently reads +5 mph between 30 & 95 mph. Sad

Color me *very* jealous.  I instantly fell in love with the Trophy at the bike show in Atlanta.  If I could swing the cash for it, the Speed Triple would a distant memory.

Congrats!

Don-

Big congrats, nice bike!

The +5mph off is pretty good for a Triumph, my previous Sprint ST was +8-9 high. Current Sprint is +5 too.  Wink

Hi Don,
On three triples, I found it to be 5 to 6 % off.  I used TuneBoy and TuneECU to program the speedo on all three.  It varied somewhat between bikes and tires but always about 6%.  Unless you are running on fairly straight roads, gps isn't 100% accurate and when you go up over a 100mph it gets downright erratic.

Welcome Don and good luck with the new Trophy!
You look like one hell of a happy camper in your pic.. Smile
I'm currently riding a 2009 Kawasaki C14, a few more comparisons between the Trophy and the C14 would be much appreciated!

Both of those look good!  Currently looking to get out of my Speed Triple in favor of another Tiger.  Just had an Explorer for a week, now it's time to test out the 800 like yours.

I do like that blue.

Very nice Tiger 800, Poweranger.  That blue is very understated compared to my Venom Yellow model.  Congrats & enjoy!   Thumbsup

Thanks Rince and redsled. The blue on the the Tiger looks the same as the Pacific Blue paint on the Sprint in pictures but it is definitely different in person. The Tiger blue is lighter when it is under direct light. I like the Pacific Blue on the Sprint better. I am surprised they didn't use the same paint for all bikes?

Redsled how did you like the Explorer? They had a demo at my dealer but I didn't take it out. Maybe this summer I will. I sat on it and it felt very comfortable. I have just been set on getting the lighter 800. My wife sat on both with me and she liked the 1200 better but she also liked the 800 as it is a big improvement 2 up over the Sprint.
