While heading over to the local gaming store to add some books to my collection I was travelling down a four lane divided road (92nd street between Sheridon and Wadsworth if that helps). As I'm approaching the rear of a yellow van waiting to make a left turn, I'm riding at the right side of the left lane and see the nose of a van just sticking out from in front of the yellow van. I covered my front brake level and I think I even slowed down a little.
Sure enough, zoom..oooOOO and the van pulls out in front of me. Touch the brakes and give him the finger. He didn't even look over in my direction as he shot across the two lanes.
While I am on a bike and invisible to all cagers, why would you pull out blindly?
This is the 3rd time I've been close to an accident in the past week.
Friday an old man in a car decided he wanted to be in my lane and moved over. A beep caused him to stop and look over (didn't look before changing lanes of course).
The on the way home Friday I was a few vehicles behind the front pickup when someone in the right lane spun out, 360 degrees and t-boned the pickup spinning him around 180 degrees.
Watch out. They're all in a hurry and not watching.

Your anticipatory instincts saved your patootee. Keept that UP! 'Glad you were on top of the risks. 'Sorry we have to be so dang paranoid, but it enables us to make it home.

The holdiays certainly bring out a new dimension of driver stupidity.

Welcome to the Holiday Frenzy.
My thoughts exactly! I live not far from a mall and they have a lot of accidents over there all the time even when it's not holiday season.

Here in rural SC, watch out for the woods...the deer are in rut. I've seen several running across the road on my way to work. I'm not a bike thanks to knee surgery, but this time of year always makes me nervous because of the holiday rush as well as rut. Y'all be careful.
