...If you have the time then I'd say go up one coast and back down the other!

One thing I would say though Katrider... don't bite off more than you can chew in one day. The trip I posted below was bordering on the limits of what the human body can do in terms of time on a bike! There aren't many roads where you can ride WFO and make up time etc. It took us 1 day to do the stretch you see coming down from near Inverness through Edinburgh down to Cambridge. It is only 480 miles but the roads aren't always that quick Shrug

Bring a pistol... You may need it. Our trains aren't exactly the best on the planet Lol
"Aaaargh, there are leaves on the line!!! Quick! Close the line!!"  Rolleyes

Wide open is probably not going to happen very often on this trip unless it's on a slab going between stops with little inbetween. Rather take my time and maybe miss some stuff 'cause I run out of time, you know?

A loop up one coast and down the other sounds perfect.

Rick Steves has not mention those deadly leafed out railtracks on his shows. But then his shows are 'G' rated and that sounds too terrible for little ones... Crazy
