Best quote:
Mr Sunshine's "You mean your GPS auto-downloaded a new road for us?"
Best quote, runner up:
Atypical1's "We're not smart, and you can't make us."
Best moment:
Triple Digit Sightseeing. In the rain. In the dark of night. On a back road. In deer country. With four other idiots.
Best moment, runner up:
The old hunter telling us "That road goes nowhere" and then us setting out to prove him wrong. He was right, though. That road went through 30 or so miles of nowhere.
Best food:
White Chili at Reilly's in La Porte. So good we went several hours out of our way the next day to get some more.
Best food, runner up:
The two monster hot dogs that almost did Mr Sunshine in at the retro diner.
Best road:
Quincy-La Porte Road, between quincy and (you guessed it) La Porte.
Best road, runner up:
Anything paved after riding on slippery red clay, in the rain.
I'm forgetting plenty, but that's a start. Please add to the list.

I would like to nominate the runner up to the runner up of the best moment.
Me: "How far is it?"
Miles: "Its about 3 miles"
Me: "Fuck it"
I then turn around and head up the rocky (too big to be gravel) and clay steep as hill with a nasty sideways slope in the rain on a street bike with street tires.

I had the "headin' for the barn" instinct going on, on the way home, so no time for pics, but this moment had me smiling.
While crossing back into Nevada, the huge LED traffic sign read "Helmets Required
; Lane Splitting Illegal
"
Watching all the "Street Mutations" riders heading for home in the rain (with most wearing half-shell helmets), I thought how much I really like my Schuberth C-2 (it's a bit on the hot side in the summer time, but toasty warm on cold rainy dayz).

Oh yeah, the bike is fine. I think that some dirt riding is actually good for it.
Funny sight having 4 non-adventure touring bikes on gravel, dirt, and clay roads though. We should have done one of those "adventure bike shoot outs"

Just a few of the priceless pictures....
And then the road turned on us...
And the question of the day: How well DO Pilot Powers stick in the mud!
Calendar photo anyone?
We laughed until we cried.
And wept for joy in the roads we found.
Can he DO IT!?!
And ultimately the satisfaction of a great ride with freinds.

I thought the quote was "We're stupid, and you can't help us."
Although my favorite was Eric's "Don't taze me, bro!" after getting his ticket.
It was great meeting you guys. I had a great time, and busted a lung laughing so hard.

I'm glad Eric got to use the "Don't taze" line. I really regretted not thinking of it in time to use it when I got stopped.

I would have paid money to hear you tell that officer that. You know, we had two chances to make that line work and we blew it both times!
Oh, the quote was "we're not smart, and you can't make us".
I was wet and cold all weekend long...when is the next ride????

I don't think there's anything better than the anticipation leading up to a big motorcycle trip.
I set out for Baker City, OR to hook up with MisterSmooth, greench440, ejh, Moxie, BigBlock and Mr. Sunshine.
Since I had not had a chance to get there this year I rode through one of my favorite places on earth:
Hell's Canyon - dark, moody and still a bit smokey
little did I know this was just an appetizer for the entire weekend
arriving in Baker City, OR
day 2, and we are out in the Oregon desert, I think this is Lake Abert
some local wildlife
greench440 scoping the route...or something
preparing for departure once again, I think this is about halfway to Chester
day 3, a covered bridge outside Oroville, CA
from the other side
I wasn't quite ready for a action shot but this dude appears out of nowhere doing stunts
day 4, heading home, it's cold and there's snow in the mountains over Susanville, CA
headed for home
It was a great trip!
