yeah I pulled over and took a picture   Lol

On October 19th my '04 Tuono uneventfully clicked 50,000 miles. All relatively trouble free.I have had little problems but it's never failed to start or get me where I'm going.I'll list the mods and issues so you can consider if they'd be a deal killer for you.I had friends tell me that it would be like the Italian bikes of the past, unreliable, cranky and allergic to rain.Well not true.In fact I was testing my Darien on the way to work yesterday by running 100 MPH in the rain on route 70.No problem including the 'Stitch. (it was also the ony bike in the lot.I work at a Harley dealership!) Bigsmile  So if you're considering an Aprilia just buy it and ride it.I feel at this point 100K is a given,in fact it'll probably see more before it requires any significant attention.

Modifications
1.)K&N filter in a stock airbox
2.)Aprilia slip-on with corresponding Aprilia chip
3.)Sargent world sport seat-an absolute necessity!
4.)16/42 gearing-17/42 stock

Problems
1.)Fuel light died at 6 months or so-haven't missed it
2.)Turn signal switch at 1 1/2 years-Replaced under warranty no questions asked
3.)Sprocket carrier bearing went south at 44K-found at a bearing house for $24 each.I replaced them both cause if one went the other is gonna follow.
4.)The one way valve for the fuel tank vent (damn California plumbing!) malfunctioned caused the tank (plastic) to expand in the heat and crack the paint.Just unplugged the valve and all is well. This one kinda pissed me off but WTF.

If you've got any questions ask and I'll do my best to answer.I've got many, many miles under my belt on many bikes and this is the most versatile fun to ride bike I've owned.Commuter, back road bullet, track day weapon, touring it does it all without any fanfare.Just ask and it responds.

thatguy- Very cool!  Bigok

I just returned from a 900-mile (Tucson to Grand Canyon) 4-day trip on my 03 Tuono, with exactly the same mods you have. The bike never missed a beat, and with ~ 11,500 miles on the odo, it looks like it has a lot left in it. The front rocker cover on mine is seeping, which is somewhat common. At 5'10 150 lbs, this is the most comfortable street bike I've ever owned. It seems to strike a wonderful balance of performance and comfort. Further, my weight is even distributed between the bars, seat and pegs.

Have your valves ever been out of adjustment?

Not at 43K the last time I checked them.I'll let ya know if they are when I check them soon.Do you check your own valves? If so check to see if you pinched the wiring between the cam cover and the left front part of the head when reinstalling it.I did and it weeped a bit.Removed the cover, cleaned it up and put it back on.No more leak. Cool
