Here is my tentative "to" route. I haven't figured out the "from" route yet as I may make a long weekend of it & head up to the old stomping grounds around Erie. Sorry for the bandwidth on the link - i wasn't sure how to shorten it.

Instead of hopping on I-81, suggest you continue on 443 through Swatara SP and take Gold Mine Rd north.  You'll have to turn east on 209 for about 5 miles to get back to 125 north, but it's knee-dragon fun, and it was in pretty good shape last year, as Pennsy roads go ... and it keeps you off the slab.

We made a mistake and of hopped on I-80 for a stretch on the way home last year, don't plan on doing that again.

Good suggestion, I have been on Gold Mine Road a number of times and it is worth including.  It is in better shape than numerous sections of 125.  I'm thinking of doing that portion on the return.

Revised map link.

Windsor...that's a nice route but my meddling fingers would change it a little....and add about 100 miles in the process!

One thing I might recommend is removing the "F" stop, cutting across on Hyner (1014) from Lucellus to Rte 120 just south of Renovo .  44N from Watertown to Haneyville is a nice uphill, but the rest of 44N is a droning ride with few corners along the top of the hill through the state game lands (read--forest rats galore).  144 north of Renovo is a good ride, but not necessarily worth making the 60 mile loop when you've got other roads to ride.

Yes, I'm planning on doing it all in one day, just like the least two years.  I've been working on some fun mountain routes there and back.

I'd welcome company.   Bigok

Hey Rincewind, Are you leaving from Ephrata area? If so, what time are you planning  on leaving? Just curious, still trying to put things together. Thanks,

Dos Equis, Where will you leaving from on this trip? Are you close to Ephrata? thanks,

I'd like to attend this year and if I do, I'd do the same as last year; ride out on Saturday, enjoy the bar and company Saturday night, meet-n-eat on Sunday, be on my way Sunday afternoon.  Thumbsup

I have to make sure time and money are available. 77? days until cross-country road trip departure.

Yes I'd be leaving the Ephrata area.  I'm pretty flexible if there's a number of SEPA folks wanting to ride up.  If there's a better meet point or route, that's fine with me.  My preference would be to do some good roads rather than just Rt 322 or interstates.   For the route I was considering, my GPS says 4hrs, 20mins, 195 miles.

I am about 30 minutes from Ephrata as I am on the eastern side of Reading. If we want to have a meet-up in the area that would be great.

Rincewind,

If you're leading, I'm following. Not much for superslabs or highways, backroads are cool with me. I got approvement from the War Dept. so it's a go. Thumbsup Let me know where and when we meet up. Thanks,

DosEquis,

I live in Montgomery County, so I'd probably be heading out your way to get to Ephrata. You want to meet and ride out to join Rincewind? Sounds like a good deal, Let me know,

Both, I'll post this on two other forums to see if there is any interest in going out. Most folks will probably find their own way out, but I figure, the more out there in Clearfield, the better. See you,

I plan to make it this year again.  Most likely staying at the Days Inn Saturday night, after a long winding ride from South Jersey.
