Updated:

Due to an annoying bit of ignorance on my part, I booked us in at a hotel which would have been great 4 years ago when the Meet was on Wednesday and Thursday, completely forgetting the days had been changed to Tuesday and Wednesday.  As it's turning out, I'm not finding any hotels in the immediate area which have enough rooms on Tuesday/Wednesday, but in the immediate vicinity (that area is nothing but hotels, with a pancake house, gas station, and liquor store mixed in) there are several with enough rooms combined to accommodate all of us.

Kara at the Swiss Holiday recommends Land of Nod (Victorian elegance), Pine Top Lodge (100% non-smoking rooms), and another I already mentioned, the Eureka Suites.  There's always Traveler's if we get really desperate.

Old message:

I have those rooms on hold now - 7 doubles and 5 single kings on Tuesday the 10th, and another 10 doubles opening on the 11th.  The hold is until May 1st, so we have some time for last-minute joiners to add on.  If response is good, there are another 5 rooms available on the 11th.

The group reservations is under "Sport Touring Net," and the toll-free number is 888.582.2220.  Kara is the GM who set up the reservation, but anyone can help you if you reference the group name.  The block covers Tuesday with a potential checkout on Friday, though I know many will be leaving Thursday.  Make sure you specify check out date (der) so they don't assume you're staying til friday if you're not.

The first 12 rooms are all in the same building (which will be completely ours), and will constitute the main hangout for the event.  No doubt everyone will hold to traditions and gather directly in front of my window for the loudest, most drunken conversation.  Mac will no doubt be on the other side of the wall from me.  It'll be just like old times.

See ya there!

Edit - please ask for Kara so she can keep it all straight.  I let her know initially that some will be coming in on Tuesday, and should get the rooms in the back first off.  The ones coming in on Wednesday should be given the rooms in the front building.  Half the people will stay til Thursday and half leaving on Friday overall.  She's got it straight, but maybe the others don't so much.

Another Edit - if there are no more rooms on Tuesday, check the end of the thread for alternates.

Is't the swiss inn the one directly across the street from the travelers inn?

I take it back - yeah, Mac - it's the place across from Travelers.  My mistake.

Looking at the TripAdvisor reviews between the two, Swiss Holiday Resort gets better marks, and the best review comes from a motorcycle group.

At this point, we have like a $69 per double room rate...  I'll write it all down when I call her today.

After that...  git callin!   Bigok

Funny thing is, I keep getting reservation confirmations sent to my email.  Four so far.  I dunno if all y'all's are coming to me, or if their computer just keeps sending mine over and over, coz the info is all exactly the same - king room, three nights.  I know Playininthestreet only wanted two nights, so that's why I'm wondering.

Hrm.

This may not be going so well.

Last time (2004), a whole bunch of people just came in on Wednesday and stayed a night or two.

This time, a whole lot of people are coming in on Tuesday.  Not so many takers for a wednesday arrival.

The back rooms are filling up fast, in other words.  With 5 singles and 7 doubles, that's only room for 19 people (well, some of the singles are going to couples).  I figured history would repeat itself and the second night would be way more populous, and the extra rooms opening up on Wednesday would be perfect.

I'm going to look at other options, just in case.  Better to have a clusterfuck now than in May.  Sorry folks.   Crazy

In 2004 the meet was Wednesday/Thursday (not Tuesday/Wednesday like this year).  I think most people arrived on Wednesday (first day of the meet), but I might not remember correctly.  Some people left Thursday morning, because they had a long way to go, some stayed until Friday morning.  Headscratch

Other options within a block or two, with rooms available:

Travelers Inn.  Inexpensive, had a good time there in '04, but credit card issues for the CSTN crew last year.
Comfort Inn and Suites:  Fair number of double queens left, but only one single king.  It's also a Choice Hotel (like the Rodeway) so maybe we can extend our group rate for overflow if I ask really nicely.
Eureka Suites:  Highest rated in the immediate area, everyone loves the remodeled niceties, but the rooms are about $30-40 more per night.

Hate to split things up at all, but there doesn't seem to be enough availability for the whole group on Tuesday at any decent hotel in the area.

The Eureka Suites hotel has excellent reviews, says on their website that they're bike friendly, and has six single King rooms with kitchenettes and four double queen suites (good for a couple larger fellas who want to share a room but don't want to be in each other's pockets) with separate living room and kitchenette.  The singles are $69 per night, and the double suites are $89.

Gent who I talked to was brimming with Southern Hospitality.  Named Rick, and their phone number is 877-253-9990.

Eureka Suites is less than a quarter mile - easy walking distance - from the first hotel.

All the hotels I've mentioned so far, including several others, are all within a several-hundred-foot radius of one another.  If we do get distributed amongst a couple hotels, it will be disappointing and I'll feel like an ass for getting the days offset, but it's not tragic.

All the amenities - gas station, pancake house, liquor store - are a stone's throw from this cluster of hotels.

Since it's the off-season, I doubt many hotels there have people manning the phones constantly later in the evening.  Since you're overseas, it may be difficult to find a time to call when you're awake at the same time they have more than one person manning the front desk.

FWIW, I've tried calling there a couple times past 9PM local time, and gotten the same result as you.

By all accounts, the fishing is awesome.

Yeah, the cost of living is a wee bit different in Arkansas than it is in SoCal.  But the roads are better in SoCal - after all, you have so damn many of them Razz

Updated:

That's it for the Tuesday rooms at Swiss Holiday.

Kara at the Swiss Holiday recommends Land of Nod (Victorain elegance), Pine Top Lodge (100% non-smoking rooms) which are right across the street, and another I already mentioned, the Eureka Suites.  There's always Traveler's if we get really desperate.

I'll post phone numbers and contact names later today.

yer just using the room for sleepin', showerin' and shittin'. Although I wouldn't take my daughter to Traveler's, it has worked pretty decent for a few meetings and they have PLENTY of room for bikes.

But I may not make the trip this year, so nevermind me.

It's not the quality of the rooms - mine was fine last time.  It's the quality of the service, insofar as we've had members cancel a reservation within the allowed time, gotten charged anyway, and had to fight tooth and nail to get their money back.  The place could have diamond-encrusted shower knobs and come with a free foot-rubbing midget in every room for all I care - I'm not giving them any of my money if they tried to defraud fellow STNers.

I just booked a double for Monday and Tuesday nights. "R Doug" and I are arriving a day early, spending all day Tuesday riding locally (TWISTIES!) and bolting for home (via Barber, N. Ga, Deals Gap, etc) on Wednesday morning...

Thanks Garry.  Do they have KTM Only Parking spaces available?   Lol

To give everyone a few details about the Travelers Inn... I had to involve a private attorney and the Arkansas Attorney General to get my money back after cancelling my reservation last year.  I learned about a month before the event that I would not be able to attend, so I called and cancelled my reservation and I confirmed that I would not get charged.  Two days after the event, I got charged for THREE nights.  I called and I was told they had no record that I cancelled my reservation, so my credit card was charged.  Luckily my employer records phone calls, so I pulled the recording and after getting no response from the owner I contacted a private attorney who tried with no luck to get a refund.  I then contacted the AG's office and filed a complaint.  If this was an isolated incident... it would be understandable, but I personally talked with three other STN members who had the same problem and I heard there were others.  I will be making my reservations late and if it's the Travelers Inn or nothing... well, I won't be coming.

The quality or lack there of was my beef with Travelers, mind you I have staid in some cheap motels but never one as dirty as this one, there was a stain on the top cover about the size a football that I,m pretty sure was blood they halfway tried to wash out, and about three or four places on the floor that looked and SMELLED like pee, not to mention some holes knocked in the wall in the bathroom that had mold growing out of them.  Thumbsdown bete..

Dude!  Check out one of the other hotels.  Seriously, they're all within "wobbly-pop staggerin' distance" from each other.  If you're looking for Three Kings, check out the Eureka Suites.

No need to apologize...

This comment was made earlier...

So I thought I'd fill in some of the details so others, like you, would know what happened to a number of STN members.  During my fight to get my money back I discovered this is a "standard practice" of the owner because not everyone will fight to get a few bucks back.

I don't want this thread to get off-topic, so PM me for more details if you want.  I'll just say it again, I wouldn't stay at the Traveler's Inn even if it was the only open room in town.

Thanks a bunch for the info FJR1300. I was going to stay there because it's across the street and cheap.

The other recommended places are Land of Nod (http://www.landonod.com) and Pine Top Lodge, (www.eureka-springs-usa.com/pinetop/) , phone 877 705 0641. I emailed a reservation request to Pine Top but haven't heard back yet.

I don't know if I'll be able to make it. I'm going to try to take advantage of the buyer's market in the fall, which means that I have to work as much as possible over the summer.

I'll reserve a room if I still can, but it may be on the market later.

Rar.  Naughty Kitty.

No, I was referring to the infamous Cougar Attack what made Basket run off the road back in 2004.  At least he said it was a cougar.  He seemed really sincere about it, and sounded not at all the same as a guy who blames the fart smell in the room on the family dog.

Just made reservations for Dove and I at Eureka Suites for the 8th through the 13th.  We may cancel the Sunday reservation and camp out at one of the forests on Saturday and Sunday nights though.  But I want plenty of twisties time!

They have the following rooms available:

1 queen jacuzzi (single room)
3 single rooms (king bed, kitchenette)
2 queen suites

The single rooms seem to be a pretty darn good deal for 79 bucks a night.  Based on the other prices around the area, I have to say the lodging prices are damn good.

They have a couple of rooms left for those days.  Thumbsup

Kara at the Swiss Holiday recommends Land of Nod (Victorian elegance), Pine Top Lodge (100% non-smoking rooms), and another I already mentioned, the Eureka Suites.  There's always Traveler's if we get really desperate.

The Edelweiss is right across the street from the Rodeway.  Their website says $44 per night and I was considering staying there. They answered my email right away, but I couldn't contact them on the phone so I booked at the Pine Top for just $42!

We live near E.S.Just a word of warning. In the time of year of the National rooms will get scarce,so you best book as early as you can.
And yes there are a few cougar, but many more black bear. They have taken out a rider or two!
If they run low in E.S. the next town is Berryville.Good luck!

Check out the alternate hotels as listed in this thread - they should have rooms.

If you're not going to bring enough for everyone, you can't have yours!

Dang... I was just up in Chicago, but the classes were over twelves hours a day, so I wasn't able to get me any of that good pizza.

Hrm.

I'm starting to think maybe just take some of the registration fees and have an ass-ton of Malnati's pizzas delivered to your hotel.  When they're done cooking, we'll walk them across the street to the gathering hall at the Rodeway (which they said we could have for free) and do a beer 'n' pizza fest for one of the dinner nights.

'course, that means you'll be stuck in your room cookin' pies.  But you'll get dibs on the first slice from each.   Bigok

FYI - I just reserved a room at Swiss Holiday Resort with Kara (very helpful).
She informed me there are now 5 rooms left 1-King (non-smoking) and 4-2 double bed rooms (smoke whatever you want I guess).

No, its not.  What month are we talking about here?  If its May 10 & 11, I might be able to catch up.  But it is not clear when this shin dig is in the OP.

the hotel next door to the swiss holiday (TRAVELORS INN ) is a health risk, last year while attend another rally some overflow guys went there, seems they dont wash the sheets nor clean much of the rooms, and when the owner( who is a azz wipe)  wouldnt refund his cash payment after only being there for 20 minutes, and finding the sheets dirty, he went an bought new sheets at the wal mart in berryville.

I highly offer to NOT stay, nor eat at the travellers, unless Kara says they have cleaned up.
just for your info

Traveler's is a last resort, based on a lot of people's past experience there - both in cleanliness and in customer service.

Apparently there are still rooms at the Swiss Holiday Roadway Inn place.  I managed to snag a last minute reservation there from the 9th through the 12th.

Based on the weather forecast for Monday, I whimped out on camping and decided to seek cover in a hotel instead.

This is the place where Tuesday's dinner will be served, right?

Stonegate Inn was just fine -- clean.  Large room.  Large beds.  $50/night + tax.  Pool and hot tub.  1/4 mile to the pancake place or Amore and 1/2 to the Swiss Holiday.

I'd definitely stay there before Travelers.
