As some of you might remember I'm working on a promotion for work where at the end of the promotion we're going to be awarding 2 Harley-Davidsons.  Well I've been working on the marketing material and handed in the first draft. Remember, you want to be creative and sometimes I wonder if the project managers that come to us to execute these ideas get it. So I submited my first drafts of the marketing material.  Here is how my first line read:

"You know deep down inside you always wanted to be a fat boy..."

Here is how the project manager suggested it read:

You know deep down inside you always wanted to be on a fat boy..."  EEK!  Lol

You don't realize how hard it is for me to type this and not keep from laughing.  Lol  I took it to my boss and she about lost it.  rofl

Nope, not until he read it out-loud FIVE times. The 5th time he got.

But I tell you what putting together a motorcycle based marketing piece for a manager that has NO IDEA about motorcycles is frustrating. I've had to change it several times because I get questions like (all things I've been asked):

"What's an ape hanger?"

"Why don't we use the word sweeter in this piece?"

"Can we add the word oxtane."

"What if we say rev it up in style."

I'm freaking pulling my hair out!!!!

Another thing that I've come to realize is that these people are REALLY out of touch as to what a Harley cost. Here is how the most recent conversation went (but I've had many like this):

Them1: How much does one of them bikes cost anyway?

Them2: You're looking at $20,000, easy.

Me: You can get a Harley for $7,000 if that's what you're looking for.

Them2: (sarcasticly) What, one with pedals.

(Group - minus me - laughs)

Me:  No, you can. But if you're looking for more you can get a FatBoy for $15 -$16,000.

All of them  Confused

That's because they buy from their local stealer who charges $4k over msrp+accessories+TTL+setup+special dealer gouge fee+expenses. Rolleyes
