Everytime I see a ZRX, no matter what color it is I think of boxjoint.

Good to see you man. Reminds me of years back when STN was booming.

Yeah, That bike was kindof my trademark. I remember going to the first national and when I pulled up people came over and said "check the plates is it from Jersey? "

I do miss those days on STN. I did a lot of rides with a lot of cool people here. Me and the wife are re-financing the house (we got a little silly with the credit debt our first year of marrige) so if that goes as planned I would say there is a 99% chance the HD is gone and I will be here a lot more regularly.

I'll be honest- I never should have sold it. That bike served me very very well for a lot of miles.

I ALLWAYS had an appreciation for Buells even back to the tube frame days. I do kindof like the power output on the Harley (although it needs more power, which the buell has) so getting a Buell would bring both worlds togeather.

The tank bag is Tourmasters Super Mini tank bag...It uses a strap for the front that goes under and around the steering head.

...The Buell tank bag mounting system is ideal.  It is a true 3-Point mounting system as it uses the two forward fasteners on the faux tank.  This prevents the bag from moving sideways.  Plus, it has real world usable space.  It's not as pretty as the TM Super Mini though.

Just FYI, I modified the mounting system on my Buell tankbag (which I find a bit too tall, BTW, and don't use all that much).  I didn't like the fastex buckles flapping around whenever the bag wasn't on the bike, but I didn't want to have to take them off every time I wasn't using the bag (kinda defeats the purpose IMO).  So, I replaced the stock two front airbox cover mounting screws with longer ones, with a short collar and a washer, to create short mushroom-shaped studs; I then melted some keyhole-shaped slots in the tankbag webbing to fit over the studs, and voila--a true, easy-on easy-off mounting system that leaves nothing unwanted on the bike, yet provides very stable mounting.  I assume the Tourmaster Super Mini strapping could be modified similarly.

Well follks looks like it ain't happening this year. The refinance on the house is busted because of the market my house value plummeted too much.

It's all good. I will ride the HD for this year and next year after the bills are down I'll look again. Maybe at that time I would be able to keep the HD for riding with the wife and get a just for fun bike for me. Embarassment

Holy crap! Boxjoint, great to see you buddy! All us olddirtybastards remember your extensive surgery to the zrx. Good luck with the financing and hope to see your ugly mug back here with a new ride.

I love what some of you guys have done w/your Firebolts to make them more sport-touring oriented. There's an XB12Ss in my future but I always preferred the protective coverage of the larger fairing on the Firebolt. Those Heli-bars sure don't look like they raise the handlebars up too much tho. That would be a deal killer for me right there. Still, all nicely done.

Looks to me like the new Buell XB12XT is the ticket for you brother. All the goodness of the Ulysses, plus a bit more practicality from the XB12Ss: http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes/adventure/xb12xt/features.asp

Yep spiney, I went from a die hard regular to a lurker to a partial regular.
Reguardless of what I do ride I will allways be a sport tourer at heart.

All of this with the re-finance might just be a good thing that it doesn't go for a few reasons-
1) It is probably good NOT to eat up all of my equity
2)Even though I am yearning for a sportier ride the HD does serve a purpose- when the wife is on the back or when I just want to chill and ehhem, cruise
3)I clear up my debts on my own by the end of this year I will get a sportier ride (passenger accomodations not an issue) if I keep the HD for the two up rides.

BTW- all of those looking at rising their bars I have an idea for ya (much much cheaper and easier than spending the $$ on tripples and doing all of that labor)

For a long time now the cruiser market has used "Z" bars on customs. If you can weld or know a good welder get some cold rolled steel the diameter of the stock clipon and have a bung welded in the end. Weld a riser portion to your liking, then the rest of the bar for the controls. Simply powder coat it and that's it. I had this in mind if I got a XB. It also gives more bar area for RAM mounts and whatnot.
