I will be arriving Monday in ES, and departing Thursday. I posted earlier that I would put together a couple of rides and I have. Both rides will be 350+ miles with very few main highway miles; this will be all in the twisties. This will also be a "energetic" type of ride and all day! I will have marked maps for anyone who wants to go. I have ridden these roads many times so it’s not a random selection, but some of the best roads in Arkansas. It will be fun!
Any questions?

R Doug and I will be arriving Monday night and plan on a full day of the best local twisties for Tuesday. Better to build an appetite for the National dinner that evening.

Do you have the route(s) available in Streets and Trips or some other mapping format?

Hi Sprocket—maps in Garmin MapSource or Streets & Trips are good...but a somewhat more universal way is to map out the ride in Google Maps using the "Directions" function. This is great because you can choose a start and end point, then just drag the "elastic" route over whatever roads you want and it snaps into place. (And the "Terrain" button is cool for seeing the topography of the route.)

You can find links to example routes in this post.

When you're done routing, you can convert the mile long URL to a permanent, short, easy URL using http://www.tinyurl.com

Everyone can view the route online, then plot it into whatever mapping software people have.

Just an idea!  Thumbsup

Heres the Google thing.

Day 1 STN 420 miles
http://tinyurl.com/2jv9cm

Day 2 STN 434 miles
http://tinyurl.com/yvwnpf

We can shorten either one up if we need to.
Any Qyestions?

Thanks Scott for the idea, it only took me 3-4 hrs to figure it out!

Anybody interested in having some action shots taken while on the gas!

Snuffy from this board, is the "push mountain pics" guy and would be glad to set up on Push Mountain Rd. and take some action pics!

Here's a few he took last fall on Push Mountain.

If your wondering what is Push Mountain, its state hwy 341 south of Mountain Home. Its also the premier twisty in Arkansas, kinda like the Dragon out east.

Just a suggestion, but post up if you interested!

Here's one from a couple of years ago.  NOTE:  The photo was setup... we took off our gear to stir up the ATGATT folks!

Both rides look good.  I note that they don't go through the "Lost Canyon", I think that is hwy 74?  OR 76?  But look like good routes.  We get in on Tuesday, but mayhaps we can partake!

Look at day 2 again, The "Lost Canyon" or Lost Valley is close to Ponca AR. at the west end of 74. Great road and we do all of it! It starts where 123 and 74 meet close to Hasty heads west through Jasper then on to Ponca. The Jasper to Ponca part is the best, lots of slow speed twisties.
I figure that mayhaps you will be able to partake some where along about Wednesday!

Speaking of accidents... I've heard from a number of folks they are really watching the speed on 341 due to the number of injuries over the last couple of years.

You need to quit messing with those ATGATT peoples, you know how sensitive they can be!

Yeah those sport bike riders really like to test there limits on 341, and that's the majority of accidents. Its a great road if you stay within your limits. I have heard some of those guys can take those 35 mph curves in excess of 100 mph, and its the ones following, that cant ride like that, that end up getting hurt.
We should be alright considering were on a Tuesday or Wednesday, most of the hot LEO presence is on the weekends. Maybe we can hook up with Snuffy, he lives up there and knows alot about whats going on, he takes good pics too.

Well if we can get a handful of folks together for a little riding,
how about this place for lunch on Tuesday. This is probably one of the most popular eaten places, (that's Arkansawian for restaurant) and the foods pretty good too!
South of Jasper AR.
http://www.mcrush.com/cliffhouse/

I have only ate here one time before, but I remember the food was good. Then again I'm about this least picky eater you'll ever meet.

Wednesday in Mountain View AR.
