Holy crap, that last lap!!
Lanzi should be buying Neukirchner and Checa champagne for that one....though I suppose Checa might be hard to find as he's probably on the run from Neukirchner!
How didn't Bayliss win, though?
They never did show the footage of Lanzi's pass.

Just before they rolled the credits (on my TV at least) they showed the last lap pass of Bayliss. It was clean, and I think he just said "ok, I'll take whatever position I can get here".
And yeah, nice move there Carlos. Neukirchner checked up and it still wasn't enough.

Must have gone to the same school as Pedrosa. Except for the teammate part...

The announcers said if Ducati took 1st and 2nd place in the first race, the FIM would impose a weigh penalty on the Ducati 1098. They did place 1st and 2nd, but not because they out performed the in line fours, only because the in line fours (Honda and Suzuki) crashed out.
And in the second race an inline 4 won.
Will the FIM impose the weight penalty on the 1098?

Do believe that I would be hunting down Checa. Went in too fast and it cost them both. Dumb...

Race 1 race certainly had my heart pumpin'!
I was pulling for Checa as that would've been a monumental win. You could almost feel the Spanish crowd willing him to go quicker and quicker.
To the folks that now run AMA SBK: Please take note, as this is what racing is supposed to look like!!!

Bayliss sacked the race to prevent the 1098 from getting the weight penality. Due to the first race antics the question is if they will still be given the weight penality.

What??? Bayliss doesn't know how to settle for second... he only knows first place... if Ducati asked him
to sack the race he'd say screw the silly V2 and give me the V4 D16RR so I can race without the
politics...

Checa made an otherwise processional race exciting then he lived up to his nickname, Chucker.

That was an asshat move! If Neu could have just managed to somehow miss him, he was home free; bad news he got a broken collarbone for his trouble.

There's politics in racing? Surely you jest...

As a Suzuki rider and a german (well, two german parents anyway) I was seriously pulling for Neukirchner and thought he had it and then...wham. Watching him with his head down on the railing I thought it was just his morale that was hurt; was very sorry to hear that he busted a clavicle in the process.
It was very exciting racing however...

Bayliss is done after this year. Ducati will continue to race their twins because the twin is their history. You need to go look at Aprilia now.

Let's not forget there was also a V4 in Ducati's history...
