I have both front and rear wheel stands.  I routinely use my rear stand, but very rarely use my front stand except when I need to remove the front wheel.   I see that some people use the front stand over the winter, so that the tire  is kept off the ground and does not develop a flat spot.  I'm wondering if prolonged use puts a strain on the forks.  My feelings are that it doesn't, but maybe I'm wrong.

Leaving a tire over the winter isn't going to case a flat spot.  Also why would it put strain on the forks?  If you have a fork stand it is no different than putting the wheel down on the ground.

I like to keep my race bikes on both the front and rear stand when not in use as it gives my front stand to do, the whole setup is more stable and I can just work on the bikes like that without having to put it on a stand.

Ressurrecting an old topic here, but I would like some feedback.

I have always used a centerstand if my bike has one, or a rear stand if it doesn't.  Outside of wrenching on my bike, is there any benefit to using both a rear and a front stand?

Are you kidding me, I ride my bikes through out the winter.
If you live in a snowed in area sure why not put the front tire off the ground, can't hurt hell it is the same weight on the forks (tire on ground or on stand).
