Well, I have a Corbin seat for my 02 Honda CB919. But I have heard lots of good things about Sargeant as well. I am very happy with my Corbin seat,  but never being satisified, I am always wondering, would the Sargeant seat be better? and if so how much better.

of the 2 I would pick Sargent, but I currently run a Rick Mayer seat On my 1100sa and it is the best seat I have ever had on one of my bikes http://www.homestead.com/prosites-rmcycle/index.html

I've used both over the years, and found that Corbin goes too far with their "rationalization" of the seat angle.  It feels like the seat is tilted to the rear (very uncomfortable for me, at least), rather than just flat.  The Sargent isn't quite flat, but is far better than the standard seats I've replaces them with.  They're a good bit lighter weight than the Corbins, too, which isn't necessarily a factor for many folks.   My overall take on it is that Corbin is great for a rider who's emphasis is solidly on touring, but Sargent would be better for most others.

Naturally, YMMV...   Smile

I like my seat angle to be irrational.

I had a Corbin on the Trophy.  I have a Sargeant on the Beemer.  The Sargeant is MUCH better than the Corbin.  If I was buying new I would get a Rick Meyer or maybe a Russel.

when you look at the cost of either, you have a sizable chunk invested toward the cost of a truly custom seat like a Russell.

I greatly prefer the Sargent over the corbin, and both are far less $$$ than the custom seats. So to me, you need to make a financial decision, how much is it worth to you?

yeah, right.  Headscratch
I can't quite agree with your thinking here Ken (other than Sargent being superior to Corbin).
i just checked for my bike (R1100S)- a Corbin 2x4 board is $399 in leather, the Sargent is out of the ballpark at $489.95  EEK!, and a custom leather from Rick Mayer is $469. so for $70, you're recommending that your wallet should be happier than your butt??? or that i should pay more for non-custom???
now, i've used Corbins for years, and used to love them, but their customer service has been atrocious for the last 4 years or so. the Sargent is nice- but why pay for their off the shelf when you can get Rick to custom build a better you one for less (I've tried both theirs and Rick's on my bike), AND Rick gives you a lifetime warranty with it! for me, there is no other saddle on the market!
(and i will certainly grant that your specific bike might play out differently, but there are way too many options to consider in that regard.)

+1

I have a Rick Mayer,, very sweet..
Best thing about it (not just comfortable to ride distance) but when I finally get off the bike for the day, BRT (Butt recovery time) is greatly reduced.

I use the Corbin for long journeys but take it off and replace it with the stock seat for most of the time.

I don't get a vote because I have no experience with either brand and could only submit hearsay.  I do have experience with Russell Day Long and Rick Mayer's late father Bill.  Rick  builds with the same philosophy his dad developed.  I can recommend both and would not hesitate to buy either.

I have a russell on my FJR now.  It's a fantastic seat.  I have probably had 10-12 Corbin seats on different bikes.  I like Corbin seats.  I've bought most of them used to customer service was never an issue.

Though my Russell Day long on my FJR is very nice, I should have kept my used Corbin I bought for $225 and saved the $700 I spent on the RDL.

I sure as hell prefer Sargent but they don't have the selection Corbin does, so I've been stuck with Corbin twice.
