OK, folks, it's decision time...

I have to be in DC saturday at noon (or sooner), I have Friday off.

The sport-tourer in me wants to take the backroads (among other things, NY 30 for 300 miles, then 97 through Hawk's Nest, down on the NJ side of the Delaware, camp (after about 500 miles of non-slab), hit I95 for 150 miles (tops) Saturday morning.

But part of me wants a SS1K -- and who knows when I'll have time to go 'round Lake Ontario and Lake Erie to do so.

I'm thinking of leaving Ottawa at 4 a.m. or so, then make my way through Windsor/Detroit, I75 south to Toledo, then I90/80/76 skirting around Pittsburgh, to I70 and 270 into just N of the Beltway.

google maps (linky) tells me 1025 miles or so, which could be too close for comfort.

Does this make any sense?
