Was in the dealer yesterday. Stopped by the sales manager's desk to thank him for taking good care of my brother; he just bought a Street Glide (new '09, looking awesome in black!). We got to talking. He said that they were just going over sales figures and such for the last few months, and they have sold roughly 2.5-2.75 Street Glides for every one of other models. Their biggest sellers are the Street Glide (by a wide margin) and the Fat Bob, with Road Kings trailing close. He also commented they've sold WAY more Rockers than they expected to.

Interesting.

The bitchin' thing about the way the Street Glide looks is that it already looks custom.  Pretty much what most people want their e-glides to look like.  And now Harley gives it to them turnkey.  More interesting to me is the effect it has on the sales of the other touring bikes.
That's why I got my Street Bob, it's what I woulda done to a Dyna but Harley did all the work for me!

Mine only came with 2 cylinders.  The dealer shrugged and said they all come like that.  Is this true?

The Street Glide look was around long before Harley introduced the bike. You see, to create this model, all Harley did was mock what people were doing with the Electra Glide Standard--i.e., lowered rear, custom seat, custom paint, short windshield, de-chroming, etc.  What's new is old.

One could say the same for every factory "naked"/"street fighter" bike ever made, with their "post crash", "I can't afford to replaced the damaged body work" look.   Smile

I'm surprised they sell any of the Rocker or Rocker C's, IMO it's a mis-match. Doesn't really have a styling theme. I think the cross Bones looks pretty cool, in fact the first HD I built in 1980 looked kinda that bobber style.

Yep. That's what Willie G. and company has always done. Watch the market and give the people what they want. Very few companies listen to their core customer as well as H-D does.
