 Thanks all, the wife and I appreciate it. Now if I can just be as good a parent as I hope to be. We're telling my dad this weekend, I'll have an ambulance on standby, just in case the shock is too great for him.

I fail the "you can still go if you want to" test all the time.  Embarassment

Besides, you'll have a newborn right about that time. I would guess that you probably won't even want to leave even if you have the opportunity.


Agreed!!!!!!!!  I totally failed my test as well.  My daughter was 2 weeks late...and I had a trip planned 6 weeks after she ended up being born.  My ex-wife told me "you can still go if you want"...well, I went.  Was a major first step leading towards our divorce.  

Details around the trip: was only 4 days (one out, two there, one back)
My then mother in law was staying at my house...enough said.
