Don't get me wrong, I think its a great bike and really wish it was still being made but not to offer something to replace it, I think Aprilia made a bad decision. And I think that the Sprint ST is a better bike but thats my opinion.

You won't get much argument among Aprilia people on that.   Thumbsup

I've always wanted a Futura, but I'm afraid of getting parts.

If you did buy a Futura you won't need many parts unless you crash it. There are plenty of everyday parts you can get with no problems.

According to the Aprilia dealer where I bought my new 04' in November they did replace the Futura, it is the Moto Guzzi Norge!  That is what he said then we both laughed out loud as the Norge is not nearly as sport oriented as the Futura.  However that is what he said..

The Norge is a great looking bike and I'm glad Moto Guzzi is trying to make a comeback. I had a 79 SP1000 that I wish I still had. I think the Griso is also pretty cool if you like that style of motorcycle. Unfortunately they stuck with that wacky engine that's top heavy, awkward and low on power, respectively. Compared to the V990 Rotax in the RST...it isn't even a competition. BMW went pretty far with the boxer motor getting over 110 hp with it. They still introduced the K series motor because they knew there are limitations with a horizontally opposed engine. For all Guzzi's efforts and reworking they still only got a claimed 95 hp paint mixer. Piaggio would have done better putting all those Euros behind Aprilia, not Guzzi.
...my two cents.

I sat on the Norge quite a bit at the Atlanta show, after waiting for the pairs of silver haired gentlemen to make way for me.  I felt like the bike would take me to an assisted living facility at the end of my ride, instead of going home.  It should come with a walker.

To each his own, but I'd rather have a used Futura than any new ST being offered... but that's me. I'm a bit biased.
Then again I did sit on a K1200 GT at the bike show that I kinda liked, but I could buy 3 Futuras for that price... Bigsmile

I'm biased too, I rode my Futura all day today and the thing simply rocks.   Thumbsup

This despite owning another ST bike, an FJR.

I don't know of any other bike that offers as much of everything an ST ought to be as does  Inlove the Futura. I cannot knock the FJR-- it's awesome-- but the two are quite different as ST's.

But true !

That Norge is a joke... Even BMW figured out they were underpowered a decade ago, and ramped up!
Go ride a Norge, then go ride a R1200RT or Futura or FJR or ST or or or ANYthing else in the ST market.... Only those blindly in love with M-G's will buy a NorgiePorgie.

Not everyone needs more than 100 hp.  For decades airheads ruled and many of those guys are still satisfied with them today.  Heck, HD still sells 65 hp touring bikes.

yup  Smile

BMW figured out a long time ago that quarter mile times don't have much to do with sport touring.

Sport touring is about riding the pace. And under those conditions, the horsepower and torque of BMWs and Guzzis are up to the task.

Granted, if 50% of yer riding time is spent at over 100 mph, then look elsewhere. But if you ride the pace, they have enough power.

True...... true...... "Not everyone needs more than 100 hp."   Heck, my 300# DRZ only has 40hp.   Lol

Per what HDs sell now-a-days..... yes, I DO have to ask as I don't understand, and that's after nearly 200,000 miles under my belt.

 Rolleyes

The only HD that peaks my interest is the new 1150 sport Buell....  Thumbsup.... the rest of the HDs can fall off the face of the earth, and I'd never miss them; neither will the minivan and Buick drivers they hold up on backroads every wknd.
