In a PMS reliving excersize we have our plan in place for the 2009 Spring Break Out Run.

This year we are heading to Arkansas and the fantastic roads they have to offer.  We are taking our lead and exploring the area using Mario Caruso's Arkansas motorcycling book.

Ordering information http://www.arkansasrider.com/arkymotoa.html

The plan is to leave Wednesday morning, April 15th and rendez-vous in Bloomington, IL around 9:30am.  Our Wednesday destination is Mountain View, AR and we will be staying at the Dogwood Motel.  We have reserved 6 rooms and at this point we have 3 rooms spoken for.  We will let additional rooms go in mid March if no one else comes on board for the trip.

We will stay in Mountain View through Friday night, 4/17.

On Saturday we will wind our way back up through southern MO and stay in Bonne Terre, Missouri so that Sunday's ride home will be a bit shorter (about a 6 hour ride to Chicago).  Figure around 2,000mi total for the trip.

This is an open invite to join us on this adventure.  All routes will be provided in a *.gdb (Garmin) file.
Here is a taste of the plan....

Four of use got tickets on our way to Push Mountain Road, less than five miles from hotel.

I was in Eureka Springs last fall. Killer roads and lot of decent food.
123 is the best one I road for super tight twisty run.

I'm very interested - I'm already planing a ozark trip - but isn't mid-april kinda 'iffy' weather wise for leaving and returning?

If we waited until summer it would not be a spring break out....  Lol

Like any ride all plans are subject to change.  Our plan is to hope for a good window.  Last year we watched the weather and on the return trip we decided to come straight home instead of winding are way back because of the predicted weather.  The head up approached saving us though riding through a major rain/snow situation.   It was cold coming and going but certainly doable, plus the reward of coming from the cold of R4 to spend a day or two in possibility of of being in wamer sun shine...

Is worth the risk, and it will seem that much sweeter...

Perhaps we should limit our riding to Jun. July and August are too hot, everything else too cold.   Lol

If anybody needs to save money on this trip... they are more than welcome to spend a night at my place on the way down or back.  I'm in the middle of the state and getting to and from Mountain View is a fun ride on MO19.

As noted we do have 6 room reserved and so far.  3 are accounted for, 3 are open.  Let me know if you want grab one of the others.  I will ask that you give the motel a call a put a reservation in your name.  We plan on releasing the unclaimed reservations before we leave.

The other thing of interest that there is a music festival happening that weekend.  Which means on the plus there will be free entertainment in the evening put that also means that hotel rooms will be filling up before too long.

You apparently had this planned with some other, more preferred riding buddies before posting here...

I think that stretch of road is about 20 minutes south of Winona.  It's got a few ups and downs.
