I rode today. Delafeild, and West Bend in the morning. Then in the afternoon I had to go to my son's rugby game in Mcfarland. I checked the radar before I left and all was clear. The sun was out. While at the game the weather started closing in from the west. I left the game early to get away from it. I got away from that one, but caught up to a thunderstorm in Jefferson county. It was poring when I pulled over under a bridge on I94 to put on the rain gear. The rest of the way home was wet, but uneventful. I was wearing a pair of gloves that I have had for twenty years. They have some built in rain mittens. It's the first time I have ever used them. I'm here to tell you, they don't work. The gloves are soaked.

I rode again in the rain this AM- I'm still waiting for the new pro-oiler nozzle for the B12 that the chain ate last week. New chain and sprockets Saturday, but still waiting on the nozzle. I guess it's coming from Belgium, so Ishould be patient. Still, oiling by hand with oil sucks. I don't want to wax the new chain, since that will be messy and inhibit the pro-oiler...
Still, I ride.

Rode to work today, rained the whole way. And I've got a soaked sock to prove it.

Tuesday morning i rode to mendota ill. to have a front tire changed. my intention was to head home and do some work on the house but as all of you know plans are subject to change. so i decided to scrub the tire in.
i came across some of these
who says FJR's cant do dirt
found this guy working on one
then i went and checked out this place in amboy ill. it is an abandoned ammunition's factory from the 1940's. found out about it from another member but can't remember his name.
these mounds are the ammunition storage huts. there all over the area.
view from the top
found a place to park the bike
found some soft ground
then it was off to lunch
then i rode to the Byron nuclear power plant.
then it was home.

Map? Coordinates? Those look like a *sweet* excuse to ride. I love abandoned industrial sites. Cool photog opportunity and neat history...

Ed was a little busy today. He and I knocked out about 300 miles out in the driftless area today. It was a good day for a ride. He'll post something soon.

Nice work, Ed.
I covered just over 950 miles today collecting National Park stamps in Illinois and Iowa. The camera got left at home.
I forgot how much covering that many miles hurts my knees. It's time for some Advils and a beer. The new tire gets installed tomorrow in preparation for next weekend's journey east.
New York, New Hampshire and Vermont this go round.

I have rode the past week if not more. That's cool to say.
I rode to Hal's HD & Buell for the bike show. Was doing volunteer work for the HOG Chapter that I'm a member of.
Some cool custom bikes were seen.

Clay,
Finlay got around to looking this up. It's called "green river ordnance plant" located in Amboy Ill.
the funny thing is the old roads that have been abandoned were on my GPS.

Yeah, sorry- missed that.
Sweet. Thanks for the info! Looks cool.
So using Google Earth, I'm looking at the Bataan roads, Coordinates 41°44" N 89° 23' W, right? That's the only thing that seems to fit the description in the area...

Hey mxvet, glad you found the Green River Ord. site. I was the one that originally posted some info on it. It's about 20 mi from my house!
One question though, about where is that brick building in the first pic? I've been through there quite a few times, but somehow missed that.
