Dantesdame
asked me to post up her public

so you can follow her Copper Canyon trip in real time!
She's got a loop planned that should bring her back to California by this weekend.

Dante's more trusting than I am, letting the entire internet know exactly where she is.
The SPOT zooms in pretty darn close (Peter could tell which specific campsite I was camped in on my cross country trip).

Don't worry...few in Mexico have teh intarwebs, and most Americans are too scared to go to Mexico just to bow down and worship Dante's greatness.

I know what you mean Poof.
Becky and her mom are headed for the U.K. in April and taking a Spot device with them. The thinking is that that way I can follow their route. It is intended to give me some peace of mind but in reality kind of creeps me out. Too much information. A bit too "Big Brotheresque."

Colleen dropped by on Friday night and spent the night at the "House of K". A great time was had by all! More importantly, we sent her off via Palomar and Borrego Springs to see some flowers and had a grand ol' time.

Hola mi amigos!!!
Much to my dismay, this trip will not be all that it should have been. Why? Because I am apparently a freakin´Rain God. I crossed the border into Mexico and before the day is out it´s raining and it hasn´t stopped since. That was Sunday and now it´s Tuesday. Dammitall! The road to Batopilos (where I ·really· wanted to go is half paved, half dirt. No problem, except that the dirt part is now all slimy mud. Sure, I could probably slide my way down, but how would I get back up??? Anyway, I´m here in Creel for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I head for the coast, maybe there´s some sunshine over there??
As for¨"Spot" and "trust" - anyone who´s fool enough to follow me in this deluge is more insane than I am.

Sorry to hear about the rain. You probably don't want to hear that it's sunny and gorgeous here today.
Course, I'm at work typing this, so you win regardless!

Too bad about the rain! Probably a good call to reroute. It seems like roads have a tendency to just fall into canyons and arroyos when it rains down there. Have fun. Be safe. Take lots of photos!

I´ll be curious if any of today´s roads show up on a map. I know that some of them were drawn in on my map
Anyway, 200 miles and only the first 30 were paved. I´m beat!!!! Probably nothing fun to watch for the rest of the trip; just making tracks for dinner Saturday night

Nope, you were in uncharted territory according to the Spot maps. I saw you heading out the dead end road this morning and wondered...
Enjoy a well earned cerveza tonight.

Fun stuff, DD,
Ural Ballast Babe got me a SPOT for Xmas and it's worked fairly well in Spotcasting mode (update every 10 minutes) when I've hiked and snowshoed. The exception is moderate to heavy tree cover and steep canyons. No line of sight, no signal.
Here's hoping for blue skies and following winds for the rest of your trip.

I'm back in the States!! In fact, I'm sitting in Mrs. BMW-K's chair, using her computer and waiting for the two of them to come back from breakfast. Steak dinner tonight (I think I deserve it) and then home tomorrow. Considering I didn't see anything on my "list of things to see" while in Mexico, I think I saw quite a bit anyway.
And yes, I'll be sure to share it with you

Hmmm - I doubt it. I don't eat much when I'm on long trips and this one was no exception. Hot foods consumed while in Mexico consisted of soup, soup, a hot dot and 1/4 grilled chicken. Yeah, I think that pretty much covers it
