That's it. From now on we all leather vests that designate our position in the group. Follow the road captain and follow all his instructions. There will be 63 different hand signals to memorize and you all should accelerate and brake at the same rate while riding side by side. We will stop every 11 miles for gasoline, 9 miles after that to smoke, and hopefully somewhere between 5 and 10 miles after that we'll find a place to eat or drink if that is your preference. The road captain's job should be to always make sure his followers are happy and comfortable.

Riding is all about freedom of the road, after all.

Hey, doosh- Let me give you a little background on your latest little spanking. Frzy is one of Region 4's most responsible members, and highly regarded. He has led many rides, far more than I could count but all memorable. He has the skills and capabilities to out ride the great majority of us and yet he doesn't.

Why is that? Simple- Because he's responsible and pays attention to those he is leading.

It just occurred to me- Explaining this to the likes of you is probably akin to beating a dog a week after it craps in the house.

They just dont get it.

Oh and while I dont hold any prejudice towards BMW riders, you're doing little to dispel the stereotype.

Thanks   Bigok

Simple story:

Ten more miles, 'Ooo low fuel light is on'...

I scoot up to the ride leader(non STN'er on a bimmer gs),  "hey bud, my low fuel light is on and I have about 30 miles left on the miles to empty countdown"

So what does our guy with a GPS who 'knows' the area do.  He goes around the countryside for another 20 miles, circling over several of the same roads and intersections.  Every stop sign is a WOT drag race which does wonders for fuel consumption.   I smelled his dry clutch burning at nearly every launch so that puppy is short lived. Hehe...

Why all the banter?  Doesn't this say it all?  Mac told the ride leader he needed gas.  The guy ignored him.   Crazy   I can't imagine doing that to someone on one of our rides.    Thumbsdown

Reading comprehension is very poor in this group. Who in their right mind would consider being out of gas in <50 miles if your gas gauge reads 3/4 full when rolling out.  Not a trait I knew about the bike before I got on it.  My fault.

On our departure, it was understood by the group that we were heading to the ADV meet and we had to get there pretty soon heading due east.   Our ride "leader" didn't explain, "Hey we are gonna go fool around in this one area for 45 minutes, THEN head east.

Continuing to ride to my 30 mile limit after I make a notification of a need is nothing short of saying, 'Fuck Him, I wanna keep riding'.   If I was in the middle of nowhere, no worries, we'll make due with the situation heading towards the nearest oasis.  But we were only a few miles from our point of origin.  I could of broken off from the group and found gas on my own but then I'd probably never find the "group" again.

Speaking of facts:

Quote
LIP -
When he realized what happened to MacGyver and Yoshi, he went to get fuel and bring it back to them.  He didn't realize that the house they stopped in front of would help out.  You guys making comments are missing some of the facts.

If said leader had paid attention and took the extra 60 seconds to turn around when I stopped and converse with the "team" then there wouldn't be any confusion about where the "team" should head.

Go read The Pace that I linked to earlier. That's a bit of advice widely accepted by EVERYONE who cares for their fellow rider.  Your a delusional narcissist if you think that Yellowjkts behavior is acceptable.   If he was paid ride leader for say Edelweiss Bike Travel, he'd be fired.

I'm not asking for an apology.  Too much ego around here to do that.

Quote
Final words (like Jerry Springer).  I'm not defending anyone, anyone on the ride could have done something different.  Nor am I trying to insult or disrespect anyone.  If I said it here, I would say it to your face.  Hopefully, everyone that was part of this ride will learn something from it and not repeat the same actions again.  If you weren't part of the ride, sit back and enjoy the banter, but to insult or disrespect someone on a public forum is cowardly-especially if you don't have all the facts and only one side of the story.

Mine is 85 and only slowing down a little. At 45 I'm a little embarrassed that he excercises more than I do.

Frankly, I think he sticks around just to piss off my mother Smile

Riding off was a mistake, not getting gas when you had a chance was a mistake, etc...  I see a lot of people calling this guy names, how mature is that? Makes for interesting reading and entertainment though.  Gives a lot of insight on who not to ride with.

Why would you get gas with a gas gauge reading 3/4?  Perhaps you do.  I don't.   Headscratch

To me, the issue isn't riding off as much (he came back) as it is ignoring a rider's indication that he needs gas, leading said rider to run out of gas.   Bigok

My daughter says I might be able to beat up your father?

Course every daughter thinks that of "Dad". I would rather drink a beer with him, I might even buy, and watch this develop into I'm thinking 8 pages total.

Unfortunately, my father is a bit of an alcohol snob. No beer and has a taste for some fairly rare French aperatifs' (sp?). I think that came from his WWII experiences overseas. As for me, I prefer very little if any at all. I'd rather ride but I'll have one with ya after the ride Smile

O-yeah well I bet my Dad can, hes pretty froggy and a year ago decked my 30yr brother for getting lippy. My brother just stood there holding his bloody mouth in shock, I was laughing so hard my side hurt. Lol

I am still trying to figure out when I will come over ther for a ride. Hopefully later this summer. But I will ride in a smaller group with all you maniacs.
I am not looking to get into any "I need fuel" problems with anyone.

Being a total outsider to this, once a Ride Leader is told that someone in the group needs fuel, there is no other thing needed except to take care of that rider.

I do not know any of the riders, but, the needs are to take care of the riders. Period.

So when I do come over I will bring one of my French "Apperatives" with me, I was stationed in Germany and my fil introduced me to them also. And we can have a small ride, then some of the great cooking that comes out of your area.

Looking forward to  it..
