I need to get some "dirt" boots and I like these. Sidis always seem to fit me perfect but I've only had their street boots.

I have the Setup brand equivelant. My riding buddy has the Discoveries and the Aerostich CTB's. I've played around with his Discoveries and the CTB's a bit to check them out.
Bottom line is that I really like my Setup Adventure's, but the Sidi's are just that much nicer. When mine wear out (and they are really beat up after only one season) I'm getting the Discoveries.
Now for a little more info on that style of boot, since the three I mentioned are about the same (at least as far as protection and other basic details). They are not nearly as protective as a motocross boot. You could walk in them comfortably, but they do not have all the plastic protection that a motocross boot offers. I have broken downed logs off with my shins in this style of boot and it hurts, luckily they were fairly rotten. This is where you have to decide what you are going to be riding in most.
The Discoveries are apparently more waterproof than the Setup's I have (which aren't at all despite what they claim).
I had a chance to photograph all three side by side and compare them, but failed to do so.
The CTB's I didn't really care for. There seems to be no protection other than the fact that the leather is very thick. They are, without a doubt, a quality boot, but not what I would want on my feet if I was leaving the roadway.
Bottom line is the Sidi's will be my next boot. They are comfortable enough to hike in and wear as a street boot, and are just protective enough to do some light off roading. Like everything in dual sport they are a compromise, but they would do the job well.

Got a pair.Had them for about a year and a half. Pretty happy with em. Very comfortable for a dirt boot. They take abuse pretty well, although the soles are a little on the soft side. I'm having to replace the one on the right because it's worn from kick starting.

I would like to try a set Sidi Street and dirt boots. I currently wearing the Alpine Tec 6 Boots for dirt. Had good luck with these boots a little stiff at first but once broke in there fine.

A buddy of mine bought the Sidi Discoveries. Very comfy right out of the box. His only complaint was the lack of protection for the serious offroad stuff. Not rigid enough and fairly short. He just bought a pair of Fly Tallon II's and so far loves them. He said they look almost exactly like the A'star Tech 8's. Breaking in pretty quickly as well.

I bought myself a pair for christmas. They are a nice Duelsport boot but built to lite for motocross or serious trail riding.

I'm not sure I'd blast down a single track or hit a triple on the MX track with those. I'm sure they're fine for lighter stuff, but offroad I want a strong boot. I seem to bounce some part of me off a tree every time I go out. The boots I wear feel like ski boots off the bike...very uncomfortable. However once moving, they're great and I'm pretty sure they've saved my ankles several times. I'll probably get
Sidi Force SRS's
or something equivalant after I wear out my POS Thors. Everyone that has the Sidi's seems very happy with the comfort and protection.

I love my Alpinestars (tech 8's)
http://www.alpinestars.com/Tech_8_Boot/pd/np/112/p/201106.html
serious off roading requires some pretty tough footwear. These are pretty decent boots and I have still broken a toe?

the above opinion is simply that of an average middle aged hick with one too many brain injuries... or, don't take it too serious.

Trust me, they bounce just fine. I've taken mine through the same stuff I've ridden with my Tech 6's and they protect just as well. The only thing you're giving up with a boot like this is stiffness. Which, as long as you're avoiding the triples and 40 foot jumps, you'll be just fine. These weren't meant to be MX boots, they are however meant for use off road.

Ghost_Rider has a set of the Discoveries. They appear to be decent d/s boots, but personally I prefer the Crossfires. More expensive, but much more protection and also incorporates a very flexible front/back system, etc. The Crossfires, either the SRS (sole replacement) or TA ( boots are drool-worthy and on my list for when the Flex Forces wear out.

What is it like to walk in them (crossfires or flex force), comparable to a typical MX boot? I would be interested if they were better for walking and such than, say, the Fox Forma Pro's.

The crossfires just seem to be a little over the top for dual sport riding. They are very cool looking though. Anyway, got the Discoveries right here now. I love Sidi boots.

For a MX boot to be effective for MX, it HAS to be stiff to protect your ankles from the high impact force of landing big air. I realize they claim that there front to back motion is much better then standard MX boots, but is that really saying much? I doubt you'd want to walk very far in them.
I decided a while ago that when my Tech 6's give it up I'm gonna buy a Sidi MX boot. The Charger is the one I'll probably go with. I like the lightness of the model.

Very good. The crossfires have a new flex system that facilitates more directly forward/backward bending than any previous MX boot I've ever seen or worn. I can't compare them to the Fox Forma Pro's as to the best of my knowledge I've never seen those, but Ryan has had no problem immediately riding/walking around in them all day long.

If you like the Discoveries, then it's all good. Personally, I like a bit more protection, *especially* when really dual-sporting.
And yes, Sidi's are the shizz.
