As a cost cutting measure the Province of NB has just cut off the cable of 3 of our cable ferries.   Mad2

Not that I use cable ferries often but in the summertime we always do what we call our cable ferry run.  We have many variations of that run but now we will have to make do with the cable ferries that are left.

This is a case of motorcyclists being victims of the recession.

Here's a picture of one:

Seems to me you should be happy for the ferries as now they can sail free; unchained ferries are happy ferries.

 Shrug

Sorry  Embarassment

We just got another new one delivered from Deutchland.  Undergoing some trials but will be in operation between Vancouver Island and Prince Rupert by summer.

When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if not…mmmmm, boy!

I believe Sask has the worlds longest cable ferry at Riverhurst.  It crosses Lake Diefenbaker, which was created when the South Sk river was dammed.  The ferry has had numerous problems, mostly engine related, over the last couple years.
