Everybody makes it sound like designing and building a hard bag is a Herculean task.  They just built an entire motorcycle from scratch.  You think they could add a fucking suitcase to go with it?  Can't imagine that being too design/build/budget intensive.  Just sayin.'

However, I don't want the hard bag issue to take away from the rest of the bike.  What I see is an outstanding effort;  an exciting new bike with a one-of-a-kind engine that delivers monster torque in a beautiful chassis that doesn't look like a boat.  Awesome.  This is the bike that will change the world of motorcycling.  You thought it was the BMW S1000rr (or whatever they call that new BMW sportbike), but that bike was just an improvement on current tech.  What we have here is a new animal.

I know there have been transverse mounted V4's (ST1300) before, but not with pushrods.  HUGE round of applause to Motus for having the guts to be original and follow through with their plan.  I can't fucking wait 'til this thing hits the streets.  This is so big I don't even care what it costs.  This is just flat out tremendous.

The only thing left to see is ride and reliability.  They got me hook, line, and sinker with the look and the sound.

Why do you think many of them outsource it?  Why waste time on trivial things when there are important things to solve. Just sayin'.

Good bags are neither trivial, nor a waste of time.  They're an integral part of the bike.

I didn't say good bags are trivial, I was implying that putting resources in to a trivial task (relative to developing a V4 from the ground up) at this point is like putting the carriage before the horse.

How can you really hold using Givi bags at this point over their heads?  Now they have a horse.  I'm sure they will tackle the bags down the road.

With all due respect, I'm not trying to piss you off, you're absolutely right.  It must have been a daunting task to build a new V4 and hang it in that chassis in such a way that I am rapt with attention.  Good point.  Against that kind of job, bags should kind of take the back seat.

But they don't.  To me, and I realize it's just me, bags are almost as important as that V4.  And I think you and I both know that now they've brought the bike out for the public to see, they're never going to create a set of bags made by Motus for this bike.  Just ain't gonna happen.

That's OK though.  It looks like it's going to be a great, groundbreaking bike, so damn the bags in this case.

That is a nice bike. I hope the company does well. It would be awesome to have an American motorcycle company that is innovative and makes a nice looking bike that performs well. I can't wait to hear what that bad boy is going to cost. I hope the price makes that bike a viable option for people interested in a sport-tourer.

I agree with you on the importance of side cases.

I've been using the V35 side cases since they came out.  On their 3rd motorcycle.  Maybe if you had them you wouldn't be complaining.  They kick ass.  I'd rather have an absolute solid design from a 3rd party than an un-proven and almost certainly inferior product from the moto manufacture.

Not crazy about the looks of this but I bet power delivery is great.  I hope they can sell some of them.

Now THAT looks like a sport tourer.  They ought to come up with their own hard bag design though.  Building a bike from the ground up and then slapping some Givi's on it is just cheap.

The bike itself is beautiful and the sound is amazing.  I think they're going to do very well and I can't wait to see one in person.

I think the Givi V35 bags suit the biike well. The match the lines of the fairing and tank, and the colour inserts are a good match too. Oh, and those bags are not cheap. Further, why would a small startup, dedicated to producing a high performance motorcyel even bother with the idea of developing baggage?

Screw the bags  Twofinger I love that thing since I sold the 1050 I have been looking to add a   sport tourer to the garage , last year I almost pulled the trigger on a used FJR (very nice one, sorry skipper wasted my money on a Jeep piece of shit I sold 3 months later)
I will be keeping my eye on Motus, a new FJR in Canada Is probably close to 20 gs with tax, hmmm now that I say Canada I suspect we wont be able to import MOTUS .... back to the FJR

Major manufacturers routinely outsource critical components to specialty manufacturers - wheels, tires, suspension, brakes, fuel injectors and ECU are just a few examples - and here someone complains because a tiny start-up outsourced saddle bags?  Seriously?  I guess some people just need nits to pick.

I had a buell with Buell designed hardbags once upon a time.  I WISH they would have put Givis on it....  Building hardbags that won't crack isn't as easy as you might think.  The Givis won't fail, and it frees Motus up to worry about the actual bike.

Think about it this way:

Do you bitch when a bike comes with Ohlins suspension?

NO!

What's the difference?

Givi makes some of the best bags on the market.  I consider it a bonus that the Motus comes with Givi bags.

I've got 3 bikes and 2 nuts I'm willing to give up for that bike...  Inlove

The looks, the sound, the setup (including bags)... pretty much lookin' like the total package.

My guess is that the price will be the killer - I think I remember someone spouting off something about 'limited production' blah blah blah.

Either way - it'd be GREAT to see these guys succeed, even if I can't swing one of these bikes.

Sounds like a proper V4. Thumbsup Thumbsup

Absofrickinlutely. Thumbsup

I can live with the Givi's, I like the V35 style, but that fairing will take a little getting used to. Still, I'd give it an 85, I can dance to it.

I'm glad that they went with an engine design that doesn't need frequent valve adjustments.  It seems that the rest of the market assumes that if it's not a cruiser, you should be fine with annual valve adjustments.

The bags don't bother me at all.  I tend to agree with others' statements: why spend R&D time and money on something when a very good solution already exists at a reasonable price.
