I cleaned the brakes on the pig. At the last inspection they said I would need new fronts soon. What a crock. They looked fine.

Amazing that he diagnosed all this by riding it and never actually looking at the pads.

Last night i pulled off the forks to change the oil and found a problem with one of the dampening rods.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o187/mxvet57/POSTING%20PICKS/100_5679.jpg

As you can see the band has failed. Fortunately i had a used dampening rod that i broke the bottom off when i tried to tighten the bottom bolt and it wasn't seeted properly.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o187/mxvet57/POSTING%20PICKS/100_5683.jpg

Switched the bands.

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o187/mxvet57/POSTING%20PICKS/100_5686-1.jpg

And put it back together.
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o187/mxvet57/POSTING%20PICKS/100_5688.jpg

Works like brand new.

Forks ready for reassembly.
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o187/mxvet57/POSTING%20PICKS/100_5693-1.jpg

Oh, the oil was a little dirty to.

I installed Oxford hot grips and a bar mounted powerlet. On the throttle side,I had to remove my throttle lock from the new grip. When I tightened up the bar end, it squeezed the throttle tube into the lock then the throttle would not snap closed when released. Buying a "go cruise" will be the answer.

the above opinion is simply that of an average middle aged hick with one too many brain injuries... or, don't take it too serious.

Greased all the bearings in all four wheels (yes even the spare)

Adjusted all three drum brakes, YA stops much better now.

Replaced a burned out turn signal bulb, upgraded the headlamp to a focused one.

Yep having fun with the Ural Bigsmile

Pulled out the fuel pump/filter assy - think I found my performance issue  Sad

Mesh filter is a mess, going to try blowing the crap off with compressed air, then cleaning with carb cleaner. Then will back flush the sealed high pressure filter with gas till it runs clean and hope for the best.

Finished cleaning my fuel intake screen and fuel filter, and buttoned everything back up. YAY, I HAVE POWER AGAIN!!!!!  Thumbsup

Blew the big stuff off the mesh screen with compressed air, then flushed from the inside with carb cleaner. Once done I rinsed it in water with dish soap to remove the carb cleaner and let it dry overnight. For the sealed filter, I used a shampoo bottle and a piece of 5/16 fuel hose to back flush clean gas through it. Came out pretty murky - took about four full bottles till it ran clear.

Then I replaced the front brake pads  Thumbsup

Lol...I thought the same thing when they first came out, "Man, that is one ridiculously hideous looking motorcycle...there's no way in Hell I'd ever buy one of those ugly turds."  Then, 2 months ago...I buy one. The metallic blue and silver are the only ones I think look good, though.
