Replaced the hypoid gear oil in the tranny - next up, drive shaft and final drive.

Then I need to figure out how to get the melted firstgear pants residue off the exhaust  Angry3

Note to self - don't stand to close to the hot pipes

Yo Justin, take her for a ride. Get the exhaust up to temp and wipe the goo off with a bit of wood. No scaring or scratches on the pipes. When you get home the rest will come off with a bit of steel wool (fine stuff used with WD40 while the exhaust is still hot)  and Please don't ask how I know Bigsmile

OK, let's say a set of Sidi boots melt real quick on an FJR exhaust  Rolleyes

THe bit of wood does not need to be big, more like a small flat bit (think Popsicle stick or two)
The wood will in no way scratch the pipes but will allow you to scrape off lots of plastic (if it is hot enough) Thumbsup

If not try a heat gun.

Yep, that. I used a propane torch (from a distance, no direct flame) to supplement the exhaust heat, and a piece of old Carhartts pants, but there was not as much built up on the pipe. The 4/0 steel wool finished it off.

The neighbor came over with his Connie and we installed new front tires with my tire changer.  Thank goodness the tire changer is in the basement where the temps are cooler.   Beerchug

Got new tires mounted today on the Busa. Then I replaced the rear brake pads while Chili did an oil change and drank my beer.

Culling out the excess package now...

Got tired of the nasty, brown headers/collector...so I pulled out the drill/scouring wheel,  then hit them with the polishing wheel/compound. Not a mirror polish, but at least they're silver again.

Also installed a couple of 12v cigarette-style outlets on the dash.

Beetroots are not known for any inherent slipperiness, so their value as a lubricant is dubious. However, the trail of arterial-red medium velocity spatter you'd leave in your wake would certainly be a conversation starter.

Seat, rear plastics, rear turn signals and both silencers removed in preparation for the Givi install this afternoon.  Used one of the now spare turn signals to replace the broken left front signal.  C'mon, FedEx!

The new bags arrived on Saturday and I uncrated them yesterday.  Trial packing went too damn well.  I got all my clothes and camping gear in the two E36 saddlebags.  Top box (E45) is totally empty and can be used to stash my gear when away from the bike eating and stuff.   Bigok

What a jigsaw puzzle.   Lol  The rack is installed, the silencer lowering kit fitted and the bags are ON!  All the plastics are back on.  Now, all I need to do is go get some turn signal bulbs.  Pics when I get it out of the shop area.

Went on a 358 mile pavement / dirt road ride yesterday.  When I got home it was so dirty and dusty I decided to hose it off and found this as I was hosing off the rim.

I knew it was getting close to worn out but I didn't realize it was that bad......  So she is put away until new tires come in.

Plenty of rubber on the backside of that cord.  Plus, you've got plenty of side tread left.  Time to practice counter-weighting.
