We'll be in Switzerland in late September and early October. Will the pass roads be frosty or closed? Some of the resorts brag about the fall foliage. Any advice from veterans would be appreciated.
Last time we toured Switzerland, it was June. Rained every evening, but the mornings and afternoons were glorious.

I dunno.
My guess is that it will be a roll of the dice.
Here's the Average Rainfall chart for
Bevers, Switzerland
.
If there is precipitation, chances are it will be suckfull in the higher elevations. There are plenty of good roads to ride without hitting the mountain passes though.

It is indeed a roll of the dice. I once had to ride through a white-out at the top of the St. Bernard pass in late September. A few days one way or the other and it probably would have been fine. Best advice I suppose is to keep your plans flexible and stay at lower altitude if the weather isn't co-operative. Hope the weather gods are on your side and you have a blast!

You should not anthropomorphize machines. They don't like it.

I was there last September and it was sunny and 20+ C in the valleys, of course colder uphill.
Then again I understand it can snow in July up in the mountains, so it's always a roll of dice to a degree...
