Leaving at 4:00am the 21 of may for 5 days riding around lakes Michigan and Superior and up into Canada.

meeting up with the around the lakes group http://www.aroundthelakes.net/atl2009/at woodfield shopping center and getting the hell out of dodge b/4 the traffic gets to screwed up.

having breakfast at stooges restrant in st. Joe Michigan and then for me it's off to meet Clay to pick up some moonshine. then off to check out a couple of covered bridges east of grand rapids. then head n/w to Manatee and pick up M22. and ending up in Travers city for the night.

Friday we head into Canada. staying the night in wawa where some friends that live there are doing a BBQ for us. pulled pork, chicken and even moose. i hope the moose isn't road kill.

I know many of you don't give a s@#t so don't give me to many of these.  Twofinger

time to hit the sack. 3:30am will be here to soon.

Have a great time and watch out for the four wheeled and four legged morons.  I'll be doing the reverse loop next Saturday for the Soup Run, but mine's only going to be a one day ride.

He just left here- we talked a bit, he picked up his "ration", and continued.  He has quite a nice setup on his FJR!

If they partake of the "ration" he picked up, they should all sleep well tonight.  I gave him plenty to pass around!   Bigsmile

For you keeping track- Ed (mxvet) just called me- his bike died about 10 miles from here.  He's in Grand Rapids at one of the bigger dealers sorting it out.  It sputtered, died, then restarted on a bump start and he had to give it wide throttle to keep it running- but he didn't make it.  Someone towed him a couple miles to the Shawmut Hills Yamaha where they are replacing the battery.  I'm going to check in with him in a bit and head down there after school if he's still around to see if he needs anything.

Maybe if he added the 'shine it would have sparked up again...  Bigok

Update:  It was the battery.  With a new one in he's good to go and on the road again, on his way up to Traverse City!

Nuther update- bad news- bad stator, rotor, or reg/rec.  Ed got a ways away and things went downhill again.  The guys at Shawmut Hills cycle (here in Grand Rapids) picked him up with a trailer and brought the bike back to the dealership.  I picked him up, we loaded up his gear, and he's in my truck right now headed back to Chicagoland.  They'll fix the FJR and he'll drive me truck back next week to pick it up.

Bummer on missing the trip- that sucks.  Then again, I guess it could have happened halfway between Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa.   EEK!

Well, that just sucks.  Four wheels does not even compare to two.  Ed, when you get word the bike is fixed, post when you're coming back and maybe we can have a lunch gathering over in Grand Rapids in your honor.

Sorry you can't make the RTL trip, Ed. But as others have said, good that it happened where help was somewhat nearby. BIG kudos to Clay for his assistance! Bigok

Ed has SOOOO many miles on the FJR something was bound to fail even though he is meticulous at maintenance.
