Okay, explain to me if I'm calculating something incorrectly, and I'll edit this post.  According to Motorcyclist Online, a professional motojournalist can do a 1/4 mile in 10.10 seconds at 142 mph on a 2004 GSXR1000.  If it takes 1500 feet to accelerate to 142 mph, wouldn't it take 845' to accelerate to 80 mph?  In fact the bike should only have been going about 50 mph in 550' (at WOT with a good drag technique), right?

No, because drag strip acceleration is heavily "front loaded". In an eighth-mile (660ft) drag race, a more-or-less stock sportbike will run in the 6s at over 110mph.

depends on the bike of course, but 120+mph isn't terribly out of the norm in the 1/8th

With a very good pilot of course

.... a significant percentage of motorcycle fatalities happen within 2 years of a rider getting a license.

There has to be something done.

1. Prohibit all riding within 2 years of getting a motorcycle license.

2. Tiered licensing by implanted microchip under scalp. Before the bike will start, the chip checks to see what performance level the rider has been cleared for and adjusts the bike's ECU appropriately. The microchip would also check for the presence of a DOT approved helmet which also would come with a microchip. In turn, before the helmet microchip would send the ok to start the bike, all connections in a proper set of riding gear would have to be in place and connected. Microchips inside the gear, of course, would check to see that the gear is actually ON THE RIDER, not just strapped to the bike somewhere.

3. If all checks out, then the scalp implanted microchip sends a signal to the DMV to make sure there is room for yet another vehicle to enter the highway. As soon as the ok is back, then the bike fires up and the rider can proceed. The entire process should only take a few seconds.

we dont need speed cameras or a tiered licensing system..Darwin will take care of the idiots...we need to teach common sense and show films of car wrecks/motorcycle wrecks to people who want a license to drive auto or motorcycles....
I have seen many articles on car  vs mcycle and 99% they blame the cycle..I actually heard a cop say that in a wreck involving a motorcycle and car he always finds the cycle at fault because anyone who rides a motorcycle is dumb....
