With me being in a car this meeting I figured I'd grab a cooler, some ice - and bring some local / regionals fresh from the brewery.
Have a specific brew you'd like to see in the cooler?

I have a question for you or anyone who knows,in Gunnison is there anywhere that sells imports and micro brews by The six pack or by the bottle? Here in Pa we have a lot of locations who allow mix and match six pack sales.I really don't want to buy a case of anything,I'll go Sam Adams (several brews) or any Munich brewed Lager or heffe wiessen.

I haven't been able to try any of the Loveland or Longmont brews.
I might even swap for a couple of drams of my Glenlivet. I buy one bottle per year for a trip. This is it.

Not to be a wimp or anything, but the altitude has an affect on drinking. It does not take as much to feel the affects of alcohol.
BTW, I will take anything from Breckenridge Brewery, especially 471

Booze and altitude-- not good. You got that right, as I learned (make that discovered; I'm a slow learner) in the mountains years ago.
I'm coming to ride not to drink, so I plan to take it easy the first day or two.

I was gonna say 1554, but they probably sell it in Gunnison, so there's no reason to bring it from Fort Collins.

Actually, Gunnison has its own brewery. Oddly, it is called the Gunnison Brewery.
I'm not too much of a beer person but their dark is pretty good.
They serve light sandwiches, fish and chips and such.
Warning - their beer is chilled in the basement, not refrigerated, so it not as cold as most Americans prefer.
The owner is a biologist at the college, and one of the brewers is a chemist at the college, so who knows what goes in there.

Holy Cow
I just went out to pick up some beer - turned down - twice.
Pulling up near the New Belgium I'm seeing cars and people about. People carrying two-litre glass bottles of beer back to their cars. Cars parked wherever they can. I pull into the lot (all 40 spaces of it) and as quickly pull out and park a 1/2 block away. Walking into the brewery's pub/bar/store I get in line - a line that is not moving. Asking a bar hop if I'm in the right line he says, "yep". I leave. I'll come back later.
Around a couple corners (1 mile max) I'm at O`Dell's brewery - in a line of cars waiting to turn left into their parking lot. Each car in the line I'm in turns left into the brewery. The outdoor patio is packed with people. All cars travel to the back of the parking lot and past the plywood sign "Parking", into a field, up a hill... I didn't bother parking and just turned around and left. Guess I'll head home and pack and return later.
OYE
(but I can't blame the other people, I picked a ripe terrible time to do a beer run - a wonderful weather Friday at 4:55pm)

Any beer worth having, is worth having somebody stand in line to get it for you.
Get back in that line. I've got your back, buddy.

Hey Basco - just notice you're in Castle Rock. I have a new-to-me client there such that I'll be swinging by their place on the way from the national back home to Fort Collins (so no scenic route in the mountains between the points).
About 2pm today / Saturday I visited the Fort Collins Brewery and picked up a 12-pack sampler and two seasonals (quarts?). Down the street at O`Dell's I grabbed two more sampler 6-packs. They had a decent line and were pumping out sampler racks - 6 different brews. Over at New Belgium the line was, again, too long so I flat out left. For their brews I settled on a couple large bottles from the liquor store.
The iced cooler's in the car and I'm leaving for Dinosaur and Flaming Gorge Sunday AM. See everyone Tuesday!
