I got the new treads and am ready to mount, but the guy with the balancer fell through.
Anyone in the direct area of Lapeer have a balancer they would be willing to lend for a day? Or, I'll buy a 6 pack and bring the tires to you.

FYI the guys at SportBikeTrackGear don't bother balancing their tires on their track bikes.
according to them, quality tires are close enough for a bike that spends a lot of time at over 100mph.
This assuming that the "dot" was lined up properly.
All that said, I have a balancer but it's not set up for BMW rear wheels.

Some what agree with matkal. Had mine done at great lakes power sports last time since they used to have the balance tool for my rear wheel on the sprint. They no longer have it after triumph asked for their tools back since they are no longer a dealer. The guy supposedly made up some type of tool and did a make shift balance. Personally I dont think he did shit since the old weights were still on and had not been moved. Put the new tire on and ran down I-69 up to an indicated 120 with no sign of vibration. Great lakes called over to Rocky's outdoor to see if they had the tool and said they did. Maybe they can balance the beemer wheel for you.
Doogman, we still need to meet up for a ride. I'll be moving even closer to you soon. Just bought a house on Farmers Creek rd west off Baldwin.

Now that I think about it(thanks to Gary), the guys that do this keep the original(previous?) weights which balances the rim.
In other words, once the rim is balanced you're good. Just make sure the dot is lined up properly.
AFAIK, Michelins don't have a dot.

I went to Rocky's this week. Since I wasn't riding a Harley, I was called a "Dam Beemer Guy" more than once. Also had to listen to the counter guys hassle someone on the phone for riding a "Rice Burner". I love the store, but hate how they treat the potential customers that don't ride HD's. Fuck them. I wrote a letter to them and don't plan on returning. I will take my money to a shop where they care about customers, not what the person rides.
I appreciate the advice on no need to balance, but I want to balance them anyhow. I will be buying the tool this week. I'll just need to fight it out with the wife. She is starting to ration the $'s on my bike spending. $290 for the treads and then another hundy on the tool. OUCH.
Mr. A. I have lots of time since I am unemployed. Just need to balance and then I am ready.

"If you can get just the axle thing with the BMW adapter you can use mine."
Thanks for the offer. I found MCR in Metamora and rode the bike (manpower type) up there today. They agreed to balance both wheels for $20. That's better than the $20 per wheel everyone else is asking. I talked to the guy who does the wheels there. Seems rather up on everything moto. They do high end motox suspensions as a mainstream. So I should be back on the road this weekend.
Here is the Red Bike, just waiting for a new pair of shoes.
I did the tire change myself. Not too bad of a job. I had them off the bike, old ones off and new ones on, inflated in little over 2 hours. I had to come up with tools and things as I went, so that extended the time for the job. Had to construct the bead breaker, gather the rim protectors, etc. Next time it won't be so bad, and I will have a balance tool for the wheels too.

I think we will ride on Tuesday. Don't know where, but somewhere.
