I've toured quite happily on a Honda Superhawk and a Buell Firebolt.  I'd recommend finding a bike you love whether or not it's a "tourer"... cuz all you really need is some soft luggage, a map, and a few days to kill.  Please be careful buying a salvage bike, personally I'd be very hesitant to push myself on a bike with a questionable history.

Oh,  I see you got the salvage Ducati.  Good luck, and two thumbs up for not caving into the peer pressure and getting a V-strom.  What a butt-ugly bike, IMHO.  I think you'll love the motor on the Mult Smile  and the looooks Smile
