As it does not say - ask how many times it has been dropped at at what speed.  Check out all the usual model specific places that result in scuffs and don't get replaced (bar ends, foot pegs, bags lights, engine cases, etc) even if he says "never".

Why were the forks rebuilt?

Ask him if he has done any of the heat fixes. The first Gen FJR's were a little hot for the rider so I think there was a Mod most owners did to reduce heat. I believe it's fairly easy to do if it hasnt been done already.

Easy DIY, if the heat is an issue for you. It never was for me. Listen for the Tick-o-death. Discussed on the FJR forums. Have you rode an FJR before? How about the stock exhaust? Does that come with the bike as well? TBros can be a little loud for some. Also does it come with the stock screen? Buffeting is one of the issues, and the larger screens might make it worse for you depending on your size.

According to the seller, the bike has never been dropped, and yes I am getting the stock windscreen and exhaust with the bike.

I am curious though, with the PC III, 2 Bros Exhaust, and K & N Filter combo, will this FJR be noticeably faster over the stock version. Depending on my personal impressions, I may take the bike back to stock, or leave it as is... Also, I am aware of the dreaded ticking noise, and I will have about 6 mos. left on the extended warranty to do something about it.

Lastly, heat is not too often an issue for us in Michigan. The hottest day in July 2009 was 82 degrees F. Not exactly a scorcher! They are predicting snow showers for early next week.

I don't have a PC III, but the buzz I get from those that do isn't that it's noticeably faster, but noticeably smoother, especially at low rpms.

Regarding the K&N -- you might pick up a few hp, but probably not enough to feel it. I remember when Larry Buck dynoed his C10 with a stock air filter and a K&N. He measured a gain of exactly 1 hp.  No knock on K&N. I've put 'em in my bikes before (I have a Uni in my FJR), but I wouldn't worry about a need to return to stock.

Ditto with the pipes. There's probably a small gain in horsepower, but you probably won't be close enough to the edge to gain a seat of the pants difference. If we were truly honest with ourselves, we'd admit that most folks swap pipes looking for a new sound, not a new speed.

Still, even if it was in stock trim, the hp difference you're about to experience will be quite noticeable. And fun.

I had the PC on mine. Yes you can tune the low end throttle response so it's no longer an on/off switch. And also smooth out the 4K rpm vibes as well. They are not gone, but better. No more pins and needles on the right hand. The one thing is around town my mileage took a big dive. Went from 40 to 32. Highway went from mid 40's to 40-41. This was using the smoothness map. Stock pipe and no K&N on mine. Really no power difference at all. With the pipe and the filter you might notice a little, but the PC is more for rideability then power.

I have a set of Leo Vince exhaust cans on my '05 FJR without a PCIII and there is a noticeable increase in mid-range power and throttle response with them on.

Every now and then I put the stock cans back on when my wife rides with me and can really tell the difference.

You are getting one of the best looking of all the FJR's so enjoy it.

At 66k miles mine runs like a top and I still grin every single time I fire that bad boy up.

Do a google search on "cromeit heat fix" to find the heat fix mods.  I did them on mine after riding it for a year and wish I had done them sooner.  They are easy to do.

my best advice is to start putting away money for those pesky speeding tickets which seem to occur

Yeah, no doubt it is big! Should be good for the cold weather months, plus I am getting the stock windscreen I can use in the summer.

Yep it's the sport-tourer of the decade for sure.    Check the little glove box in the front left fairing.  You push the button when the key on and the bike in neutral to open it.  Some people don't know the correct procedure and simply pry it open which ruins the latch.

wow, didn't know there was a procedure for opening the lil glove box. but even if i didn't, i sure as heck wouldn't try to pry it open. that's just r-tarded!!! no offense to people that have actually tried to pry it open but come on people....  if you can't figure that out, then you need to step back from the bike and just give it to me.

I have ridden several gen2 FJRs and I didnt notice and less heat than the gen 1 bikes. Mine does not have the heat mods adn I ride inthe deep south all year round. Great bike.

With my '05 I only noticed the heat when setting still at a red light. You said the forks were rebuilt. I'd really consider a Penske (among others) rear shock. You'll love the bike whether its twisties or mile munching trips. Also not as heavy as the Gen 2's. Congrats

  Well the time has come. Sold my R1100S for a more comfy FJR, got it this weekend in PA 2008/$9000/4000miles. I have been looking for a while, just couldn’t make up my mind what bike. C14 Kawasaki, Tiger or FJR.  I’m pretty happy with my choice…

Congrats Harryhat.  I bought mine after reading reviews and never having ridden a sport-tourer.  I went from a honda 919 and was looking for something to do longer rides, with luggage and better load capacity (according to stats, myself and my fiance together would overload the 919).  

Been lovin' the FJR since.

Congrats!  I love my '09.  A couple things...

Heat.  I don't get it.  It's supposed to be worse on the Gen I bikes, but it's a non-issue on my '09.  I have done triple-digit temps, and it's just plain freakin' HOT.  The fairing/screen blocks wind very very well, which is great except when it's smoldering outside.  I will admit I've been on my FJR in anything from short athletic socks and Chuck Taylors to tall socks and proper motorcycle boots, and never feel heat on my ankles unless the bike temp rises in heavy traffic.

Wind..... I'm 5'10" and the stock screen offers plenty of wind protection well above 100mph for me with zero buffeting.  Even the mirrors are clear... although I've got wide shoulders so I have to lift an arm to really see behind me unless I just want to look at the left/right lanes and my elbow armor!  I'm running a dark smoked Cee Bailey's screen that's OEM size.

I doubt this is an issue for most people, but IMO the stock clutch lever doesn't adjust inward (toward your hand) enough.  I like an "on/off" clutch with minimal travel.  ASV levers solved that for me.  Stock brake lever was okay, but of course I replaced that as well.

I've only done one 200 mile day so far (just got the bike a couple months ago), but the stock seat is fine for me and I'm a heavy guy.

Suspension... check the big suspension thread in the general FJR section of FJR Forum for settings.  I dialed mine in and it makes a big difference.  On a Gen I it's a bit different... you'll want to stiffen up shock rebound a bit, whereas on a Gen II most guys leave it at full soft.  

Most guys say the suspension is ready for a rebuild after about 15k miles, so consider that.  Others just stiffen it up some more and say it's fine beyond 20k miles.  I guess it depends on weight and what sort of riding you plan to do.
