Some of you may recall the pics Sheri and I took in downtown Davenport last winter. Looks to me like the train is not coming to the Quad Cities this year. That sucks. I got a wee bit drunk and had a blast downtown last winter.

Check the schedule out.

This is just down the street from me....

Illinois

Saturday, December 5

    * Gurnee – 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Viking Middle School Park, 4460 Old Grand Ave.

It does look pretty, I will see if the Christmas Spirit hits me hard enough to get over there.

I went last year after your heads up Scott and will attempt to go again; it's not like I don't have choices for the stops.  From what I saw, the community in Lake City was very supportive and the crowds large, considering the river and where they were drawing from.  It was very festive and all I had to drink was hot cider  Wink

Thanks for the reminder!

PS I like the old guy with the walker; atta boy!

Something most likely not at your train stop.  It arrived in a huge enclosed trailer and when leaving, the food drive contributions almost didn't leave room for it

And another quick bump. Red,Moll and I had a blast last year. I'd love to be closer this year, but alas it's not to be. I'd say. All you
Chicagonite's should make the attempt tomorrow the 5th around Gurnee.

Cheers!

I went to Gurnee last night to see the train. also saw DavidLSI and his daughter there.

i have to say they did a nice job of decorating the train. i didn't count but it must of been 12 cars.

I did take some pics but most were blurred or just didn't come out. these are the best ones i have.

Great pics Ed. Looks like the same band they had last year. Thanks for making the effort to see the train. Wished they would have made it down my way.

I was astonished by the number of people who showed up in Sturtevant, it was just nuts.  Beautiful train, nice music, lovely night.   Thumbsup
Perhaps next year (if C-P uses the same route) I'll go see it arrive in Hartford.

I did drive up to Sturtvent an what a mob scene. I didn't even try to find a place to park. I just stopped on 20 and got some pic's of the train from a distance then drove home.

Hoping to visit Friday night in Lake City, that is if we're not buried and frozen alive after the blizzard.

It's stopping in Mason City Thursday from 2:45-3:15pm at the street crossing around 1200 S. Kentucky ave.  There is a baptist church yard there.  Only problem will be the 12+ inches of snow from the coming Blizzard.  Not sure where anyone will park.  Also- what side of the train does the band play on?  What side do I want to be on?
