So my brand spankin' new 1125R aint so new anymore.

Long story short, I took the bike to a trackday at Barbers on Saturday and lowsided in Turn 5.  Luckily that is the slowest corner on the track and damage was minimal.  After getting the bike passed through tech again, I was able to finish out the day.

The radiator pods are designed to be easily and cheaply replaceable and mine took the brunt of the damage.  Other than some scrapes to the shifter peg, the crankcase (will get a crankcase cover to umm, cover the damage) and a ground down swingarm bobbin the bike was perfect.

Oh well...you know what they say...don't take anything new to the track!! Rolleyes

Hey, if Alan Cathcart can bin an 1125r so can you!

Sorry to hear about your get off, but it could have been worse; glad you;re okay. Hey, for 300.00, you can get the "optional" fairing. Why not try that if the price is close to the pods covers? Just saying. Smile You may be the first to report on the differences. Smile

I was thinking 'excuse for the full fairing kit' myself.

Its better to practice your get-offs on the track than the street.

I haven't priced them yet, but I seem to recall reading some where that the pod covers are somewhere in the $50 range.  I like the full fairing look but not enough to dish out 300 bones for 'em.  Not right now anyway.

My impression of the 1125R on the track:   EEK!   EEK! Lol Inlove Bigok
Mind you, my only other time on the track was back in June, and I was on a stock SV650.  At my meager skill level the 1125 is pretty much just taking a lazy stroll through the park.  Unless the tires are cold (see original post   Rolleyes) I am not capable of pushing the bike anywhere near its limits.

It was so planted in the corners and the brakes hauled the thing down really, really well.  They are the strongest binders I've ever used.  I had no problems getting it to change direction through the back kink.  Mid corner adjustments were nice and drama free.  I did get a little headshake coming up the rise after turn 4, but not enough to worry about.  In June, I was having trouble getting my body positioning correct on the SV.  On the Buell, everything fell into place and I got several positive reviews from instructors on my form.  It is as if they used my body measurements to figure out the ergos.  I cannot recommend this bike enough to folks wanting a track machine and it really stands out against all the GSXR's and CBR's.

Keep looking.  I'm sure some folks that jumped in and bought an 1125R during the fire sale will quickly realize that it is not the bike for them.  I bet you'll start seeing used 1125R's for sale pretty cheap within the next few months.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase with mine, but I'm digging it more and more each time I ride it.

You really need pictures in a thread like this.

I am hoping to find one of those regreted impulse buy 1125CRs...  Inlove
