Wow, just wow. I'd like to see a quick comparo with the KTM. I'm so fickle, just moments ago I was enthralled by orange.

You and me both. SM-T and this at about the same price, with a 35hp difference and the wonder-electronics-package?

Man. That's one hell of a compelling story, right there.

Sooo, unless I missed it, no one has labeled this thing "The Ugly Duc'ling" Lol... At least that was my first thought when I saw the pics...

From motorcyclistonline.com

Ducati will offer the Multistrada 1200 in three versions:

$14,995 MTS1200
$18,995 MTS1200S sport  (lots of carbon fiber)
$18,995 MTS1200S touring (bags, heated grips, centerstand)
Can I get the touring WITH carbon fiber? Lol

Ok, so with the info posted by the skip, I think the S touring comes with all of the electric goodies including the Ohlins for $19K... If this thing is as good as it looks on paper, I might have to move it to the top of my list...

If I get a Duc do I have to buy a man purse???

Both "S" versions have ABS and DES (electronically adjustable Ohlins).

The standard version has ABS as an option, not standard.

Do Ducati dealers ever cut any deals? Where's the discount DucDealer in SoCal?

Ok so yesterday was a tough day for my little Multi. She started to feel old with this new release.

I felt for her as I turned a milestone birthday last month too. To be nice and grateful for the many miles she has provided and to let her now that I am not going to dump her for this new electronic wizardry.

So today I rode her gently over the the Fountain Of Youth to splash a little water on her and that made her feel much better Lol

There's not much she needs to be concerned about.  With the proposed prices on the new models, at least her value should hold up pretty well.   Bigsmile

I would have expected the price of $14,995 for the base MTS.  But I would have expected a few more features at that price too.  The big surprise is the $19,000 sticker for the touring version.  That's a pricey meatball... especially if the valve / belt service interval is going to be 7,500 miles.  That would be two services per year for me.   Crazy

Looking at existing MTS1100 pricing for panniers, centerstand and heated grips, it should be possible to upgrade an S to touring trim for $2k or less.  That suggests the carbon fiber bits on the S are worth about the same (the CF air intakes are probably half that alone), and further means the difference between the base model's $15k tag and the $19k tag on the S and Touring models includes between $2k and $2500 for ABS and the trick suspension.

Assuming my "math" is correct, that seems like a very good deal considering there's a $5k difference between an 1198 and an 1198S (for static Ohlins, GP replica wheels, and a CF front fender -- netting a 4 lbs weight savings Smile ).

$14,995 MTS1200
$18,995 MTS1200S sport  (lots of carbon fiber)

Can I get the touring WITH carbon fiber? Lol

I was actually starting to add up the components and I agree.  The $19,000 price is fair.

You do know that you ride an 1125 right?

IMHO the 1125 looks just plain sexy next to the new MTS and that's saying something!  EEK!

I'm kinda sad about this.  The price is a bit high (for me) and I'm not a fan of watercooled bikes (only cuz it's more work to maintain them).  Not sure I'm a good enough mechanic to reliably work on a Testatretta engine.  Sad

Oh well.  I'm really liking my old school Multistrada so I'll just start looking for a parts bike.  Bigok

PS... dearest STN members who may be upset w/ my characterizations of the new MTS and 1125.  There is no need to get in a tissy and add ne to your ignore list.  I have a thing for ugly bikes.  So, it's all good.   Bigok

Anyone know if the instrument control is bar mounted or not? Headscratch  I hope so.

Another piece of info that I've gleaned from reading.  In addition to the Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro computer pre-sets, the DTC (Ducati Traction Control, 8 levels) and DES (Ducati Electronic Suspension, ?? levels) can be fully customized by the rider.  So you can use the pre-sets to do quick changes, or fully configure the system to whatever you want.  This is different than the BMW system which has TC on or off, and has pre-set ESA values only.

I've not yet determined if the Ride by Wire is fully customizable to allow for the 3 power settings to be picked however the rider sees fit.

Does the suspension elongate when in the Enduro mode?  That seems to be indicated on the special Multi site, but maybe it just means that the suspension is always extra-long.  Headscratch

I think it's sort of funny that the S-model, with all its Carbon Fiber, is still 6 pounds heavier than the standard fare bike.  I guess the weight-savings from the CF is taken up by the added weight of the techno-wizardry.

Extra weight is mostly from the ABS.  The non S version doesn't have ABS.  It is optional tho.
