Stoner will make it three in a row on Sunday. Good first outing for Ben, about what I expected for the 1st practice. He should end up starting on the third (hopefully) or fourth (probably) row. As far as his race finish I'm hoping for a solid top 10...

Ben has seemed to start out slow in the early stages.

Totally different bike. Different tires. Different brakes. I think its pretty impressive that Spies is less than a second off Edwards.

I'm not worried about Spies. If you watch his early times in WSBK during first practice sessions he starts out seemingly slow and then BAM! Superpole!
I'm not saying he's a pole contender in MotoGP, but let's wait.
Can we dream?

No doubt. Below from Julian Ryder / Superbike Planet:
"Today Ben Spies did exactly what he said he'd do yesterday. Riding at "about 70%," he took his time in the first fifteen minutes which he described as 'crap.' The second quarter-hour was a bit better but he was still riding the like the M1 was an R1. He got rolling in the final half hour of the session, adjusting his braking and lines a little. He didn't touch the bike and did the whole session on one set of tyres."

I would not go that far unless one of 4 aliens has a problem.
Spies has very analytical approach to racing, his position will improve significantly by Sunday.
I think Rossi will try very, very hard to beat Stoner,it would set the tone for off season.Just usual mental games.

There will be a Spies-watching party at my place this Sunday. Thanks for the update.
While I constantly cheer for all US riders (Edwards and Hayden in this case), I'm really happy for Ben and the season he's had in WSBK. As I said before, having Spies in the final GP race adds a little more excitement to the race since Rossi has already tied up the Championship.

Don't forget the Spies Method. Ben's still trying to figure out what kind of animal the track is like.

It's very windy and a lot of dust is blowing around. It's most likely to be a dry race.
Apparently, Ben Spies has his WSBK Team setting up his bike with tech help from the factory and they're making progress.

I can only hope the Gp will be as interesting as the "support" classes. I say that in jest. I already miss the season, I already miss the 250's. Next year who knows, an Aprilia running a Honda engine, liter street engines on the same track as prototypes. The end of the "glory" days? The beginning of a new era? Time to make some more coffee...

Stoner crashing out on the Warm up lap! WTF!!
Though the front three wasn't real exciting after Lorenzo had his "moment" and Rossi took second, the race for the top 10 was otherwise pretty exciting.
Colin in 4th and taking 5th overall in the championship with Spies passing Dovi for 7th. Now that's team work and Good Sportsmanship! Team Texas looks like it may provide some good excitement throughout the year.
Nicky in 5th. He is slowly but surely making that Duc quack.
Elias ran a good race and it's hard to believe that he's not racing MotoGP.
Excellent race.
However DO Watch the 250 Race!!!!

Warmup lap =
Good job to Ben, 7th was a great accomplishment.
Minus the remaining 3 aliens, that puts him 4th. Sort of.
