In the real world, people generally have to eat the cost of extras when they sell a bike. In this case, the buyer should get a heavy discount. Hurl

unmolested 2007 1098S

I don't know if it's just that picture, but that's a very "meh" looking bike.

As for the ebay bike: $99,000?  Headscratch Hoping a celeb will buy it I guess........ and like all questionable ebay vehicle auctions; Florida, need I say more?

Why did they even bother starting with the tricolor edition?

It's not a tricolore bike.  It's not even the 1098S, but the base model.
There are several ways to tell:
1/ The suspension is not Ohlins.
2/ The bike has been painted over the original paint.  The tricolore has a white and green lower fairing.  This one is red.
3/ The tricolore has a bronze frame.  This one is red.

So not only did they f up the looks of the bike, but they are also liars.  Never mind that they want $85K for that paint job (saying the donor bike was worth $15K).

I might be an idiot. . .

But all of the auction photos show only the right fairing side of the bike.  I'll bet that they didn't even bother to paint the other side.  "Kill Me Fast" on the left will probably cost another $85,000, or 15,000,000,000,000,000,000 Italian Lire.

The auction listing had the "artist's" name spelled wrong...not that it matters....it should have been Kristian von Hornsleth (Denmark). If you enlarge the photos you can see "Hornsleth" in the black bar on the belly pan. Most of his paintings look like a mixture of leftover paint samples and the bits that slaughterhouses throw out. He's been around for a while, and has had some measure of success. Which proves you can fool some of the people all of the time.

Like the man said... “Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, you tell me what you know.” - Groucho Marx

FYI... the Hornsleth website is not workplace appropriate...  Thumbsdown

So I guess this is a bad time to say I actually like this paint job, maybe not like, but I don't dislike it.?  Not 99k worth of like it, but it is not terrible compared to some of the custom paint jobs I have seen  posted here.  It beats the fur lined bikes and is a ton better then the fat albert bike.

The red frame, black wheels w/white stickers (indicating they're cast, not forged) and Showa fork all indicate this is nothing more than a base 1098.

False advertising on top of outrageous bravado.  Nice CV builder though:  "Designer of limited edition $99,000 Ducati Superbike"

Yeah.  What he said.  Smile

It wouldn't get a passing grade in art class.  There is still art class in schools right?

I briefly looked at it.  Some gang bang porn.  Rolex watches (bring your own, he'll customize it!) with 'F-you art lovers' written on it.  An old Lambo Countach with the same graffiti paint and 'piss on my grave' written on it.

That Hornsleth seems like a really well balanced fellow...

But, the biggest a-holes are those that buy his crap.
