So, who else is crazy enough?  I'm in with my buddy Scott, coming out of the Waterford area of Michigan.  We're headed out Friday morning and will stay at the KOA in Casey.  Got one bed left in the cabin, if anyone's interested.  It's booked for Friday and Saturday night.  All the local motels are booked solid.

I am going.  Not sure if I am going down Thursday, probably Friday.  Haven't decided if I am camping at Terry's or will find some space on someone's floor.  The Comfort Inn is booked, but I think there are some rooms in the other hotel/motels not too far out.

Going to try and make it again this year.  And I'd recommend camping at the farm.  It was truly a blast last year and that is where I'll be staying.

I might be crazy enough.  I had to cancel at the last minute last year, so I am hoping to go this year.  I just booked a room at Budget Host Room.

He is missed by almost anyone who ever met him/posted with him/talked to him... He had a Photographic memory,,, and knew every road in Colorado better than locals... About the nicest quietest,,, happy just to ride,,, and ride as long as anyone could friend I will ever meet... Miss him a ton...  Sad

Thanks Sleazy for stepping up and starting this...  Wink I already have 7 e-mails wanting me to post the MLR in ALL,,, regions since the MLR is an almost World wide ride... But after posting it on all the Regions on here last year??? I can see and agree with them why was this wacky poster posting about a RTE in Illinois in the West Coast thread... I got in a few cat fights last year,,, I am not sure I have it in me this year... LOL!!!  Lol

Ahh, but some just don't care about distance, but more about friends and fun.  You and I know that, along with several here, but the looks I get when I say lunch in Illinois then back home that day?  I'm not sure if they believe me or just think I should be committed.   Lol  Personally, I wanna hear Tim talk about his big trip around North America and some of your stories of travelling too.  I'm sorry you missed out on riding with Tim on the great adventure.  Some will never comprehend the camaraderie of the LD community.  The biggest cycling thrill I've had was when you handed me that little piece of etched plastic for a Top 50 rider to Moonshine in 2008.  It still holds a place of honor on my desk, along with the one from Cruzin' Al in Florida for his Florida C2C  that same year.

PS:  you know me as trophyluvver over on the MTF board.   Wink

You my friend,,, just made my day/week!!! Thank you!!!  Smile

You are spot on in your post... The MLR was just a wacky attempt at forgetting what we ride,,, what group we ride with,,, what State we ride from,,, but why we ride... It is bent more for the LD Community because that has been a love of mine since I was just 8 years old...

Well,,, this year if you make the  top 50/40/30/25 or whatever I can afford to buy out of my pocket Lol you will win something like last year,,, but will get your name,,, city,,, bike ridden and miles ridden to get there read off and you can walk up front in front of so many great riders to accept your award... I wanted this because for 98.1% we never will place in a rally... We never will walk to a podium at the IBR... But,,, we all can share the love,,, and share a little magic to those who ride the wind and come to the MLR...

Man,,, am I glad I came over and read your post tonight... I needed it!!!  Cool

Am considering the camping option at Fox Ridge.
Anyone with experience to advise odds of getting site if arriving late Fri afternoon?
Thanks!

Plenty of camping sites available in the area.  Shout at ACL aka Terry, our host.  He has free camping at his farm and you'll hear some marvelous lies, errrrr, story telling from the Iron Butt crew.  Also, there's a KOA right across the highway from the Comfort Inn where I have a cabin reserved.  http://koa.com/where/il/13118/  Not cheap at $34 a night though.  Marvelous camp hosts, I do have to say.  They took good care of us two years ago.

Just be aware, with the guy Terry puts in charge of the weather, it's usually damn cold.   Lol  We had snow upon leaving lunch in 2008.

Sleazy is as always,,, 121% correct... The options for camping are as he described...

The Hammond Farm is an option,,, and the price is right... First come,,, bestest spots are taken... BUT,,, with 600 acres to chose from,,, there will always be a spot for ya... Some are just farther away from the Fire and the house...   Wink

I am not to worried by a big crowd camping... Why,,, you ask??? Well,,, the ones off away from the house,,, will be thinned out by the Coyotes...  Crazy EEK! Lol

Greenup Inn (217) 923-5512‎

Ok,,, this Motel just got the ACL Motel Approval award and will be listed on the www.moonshine-run.com site...

This Motel is NOT,,, the one most are staying at... The one most who are staying in Greenup are staying at the Budget Host Inn - Greenup, IL - (217) 923-3176...

The Greenup Inn has changed hands (((VERY good thing))) been,,, FINALLY,,, renovated,,, (((EXCELLENT,,, idea))) and heard good things about it... So,,, I rode over on the Versys to check it out...

It is the cheapest place to stay in the area... I checked it out to see what the rooms all looked like... Renovated rooms are nice!!! H U G E,,, improvement!!! Non Renovated rooms are ok... I have stayed and slept in lots worse... Most rooms are renovated... Some are still to be done by spring...

Price quoted is $35 Single,,, $41 double... This price is for renovated and Non both... So,,, first to call,,, gets the nicer rooms... He has some completely non renovated that he might go as low as $20 on... They are worth that easy,,, but,,, sure not as nice as the $35 room...

It sets in a good spot... It is a Classic Motel... Park the bikes in front of the room door sort...

It does have very good reviews...
